That was kind of disappointing.Luke wrote:Talked to my good friend Dave last night, we barely talked about the game though. He said that for how realistic the people looked, the level didn't seem finished. "I mean c'mon! They step in puddles of blood, and they don't leave any footprints? That is so weak. And almost 99% of the blood ends up on the floor, and not splattered all over the walls. I mean, if you're going to try to shock people like that, do it right".
The rest of the conversation was about business, so I won't bore you with that.

Re: "no russian"
I don't always agree with Yahtzee's reviews(if we can call them that), but he said something funny once and for some reason it just came to mind while reading this. He talked about the video game industry's serious self esteem issues and how it tries too hard to be taken seriously. Maybe it was how he said it, but it made me laughGnashvar wrote:I think everyone has the right to express what they want in games. It's freedom of speech. But like someone mentioned they are using this as advertisement. We can all see the level is not needed. It's not even fun. They added this for controversy and publicity. And that's lame. And by the quality of the Modern Warfare games, not needed at all. But we all have a right to do as we wish, we can play it or not. I just wish that "mature" games would be a bit more matureand that "hardcore" gamers would not be so immature thinking that blood and stupid violence makes a good game. So like I said before in another thread I'll go back to not being a "gamer" and playing Mario on my "casual gaming" Wii. At least it's fun and doesn't give me a guilty conscience.

When he said "every reason" I thought he was going to have a good solid list of things to rip apart. I still want to see someone else argue why it shouldn't be in there, just to hear another point of view.
Re: "no russian"
Yeah, I thought he was going to list reasons why it shouldn't be socially acceptable. Eh, we had better things to talk about anyway. :/

- It offered no unique gameplay - kill a bunch of defenseless, or at least near defenseless, targets.
- It offered no unique emotions - you were killing a bunch of people who had not be developed in any way.
- It did nothing for the story - the game would have progressed in the same way if you had not been there in the first place.
- It offered... nothing - there was no intel to pick up, secrets to find or any achievements/trophies to be had with the segment. I know it was set up this way so it wouldn't punish you for skipping it... but in that case, what's the point to have it in in the first place?
Re: "no russian"
I guess that made the entire scene redundant, yeah. In the end I guess I feel that it wasn't very well implemented into the game. They didn't take it far enough to build any emotional connection with the actual scene in an attempt to cover their asses in case the media shit their pants. I had no problem with it...but hey did anyone notice...you dont HAVE to pull the trigger...so how about you consider it something of a moral lesson to figure out about yourself. There are a number of games where you can pick to be good or evil...me...I sprayed the fuckin floor, but its also a FPS game based on...FPS.
Do I agree with it no, but I also didnt agree with postal 2 and killing hookers...I love hookers, I mean, ...the lovly people that walk at night.
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.
