Is Lair anything like Warhawk? Because I want to play something that uses the sixaxis the way warhawk does, but in a single player campaign/story mode.

Valkyria Chronicles - is alright at best, I was really into it, but it's very redundant.
Diagaea3 - very long, and lots of replay
Killzone2 - what hasn't been said already
COD4 - timeless classic
COD MW2 - somehow was made better than the one above
MLB The Show - extremely deep baseball game, very good sim
FallOut3 - who hasn't enjoyed this
Infamous - very fun
Little Big Planet - stellar game
MGS4 - phenomenal

I haven't played Demon Souls yet, but plan to very soon. There is a bunch of next gen games that are shared amongst the platforms like SF4, Blazblue, GTA4....etc etc

If you have a 360 as well as a PS3 you should avoid getting multiplatform titles on the PS3 (unless of course you want to play online and don't like paying for Live) since the performance of the majority of multiplatform titles is worse on the PS3. EG MW2 being nearly 25% slower at key moments than the 360 version.

If you want any kind of indepth analysis into the reasons why this is or just want to know which version of a multiplatform title is the best to get for performance/visual fidelity across PC/360/PS3 then you should check Digital Foundry

Yeah, this is the majority of cases, but I've never found the difference to be that huge in most cases. Even the bigger cases of the games being 'inferior', like Resident Evil 5 and Ghostbusters - I didn't notice much of a difference. Hell, I fully enjoyed Bayonetta on the PS3 and it is currently the game I am most looking forward to.

As for MW2 being better on the 360 than on the PS3 - was there any doubt? Judging by the way Infinity Ward has gone out of their way to say practically nothing about the PS3 version, there being an X360/MW2 bundle, and all the MW2 commercials ending in a Xbox 360 logo with no sign of a PS3 logo, it seems that the PS3 version was nothing but an afterthought.

To me, this is just SNES vs Genesis all over again, except in this case, the games are much more similar to each other than they were back then. Also, I'd implore you not to only look at which console has the superior horsepower when choosing a game. A lot of people refuse to play FPSs on the PS3 controller, and a lot of people refuse to play fighting games on the X360 controller. Different strokes for different folks.

Unless its some crippling bug or something horribly wrong like a extremely low frame rate issue (and it wont get patched), i really dont care if my multi-platform games are slightly crappier to the 360 versions

it really doesnt bother me since i cant see the difference while playing.

the only game i have ever noticed a problem with is Skate 2, the ps3 version i have seems to hiccup slightly while the game is streaming new areas, and the 360 version seems to run a lot smoother. probably has something to do with blu-ray being much slower than DVD

Well yes that's fine if you don't have a 360, but if you do then you don't really have any excuse but to get it on the 360 over the PS3 (unless it's a fighting game, or something else that benefits from digital control). Nine times out of ten, the 360 version is cheaper or becomes cheaper much quicker than the PS3 version.

Yes, the PS3 does suffer from the slower blu-ray drive, it's why a lot of games have mandatory installs to avoid the horrendous pop-in some of the multi platform titles suffer from, MW2 is particularly bad, sometimes going several seconds with the low poly/low res assetts in view before streaming the high res stuff in - Total immersion killer. This can be rectified with a hard drive install, but then again, the 360 benefits from this feature too and it's still faster at reducing pop-in than the PS3 is. Developers just don't have the resources to optimise the PS3 versions, it takes so much more dedicated time to achieve something as good looking like Uncharted 2 or MGS4, something that just doesn't happen when it comes to release date. The 360 is the easiest platform to dev for so the bulk of the work gets done there, then the code gets ported with hacks and streamline work done afterwards to get it up to speed.

Bottom line, the PS3 needs an entire team of devs to build the graphics subsystems from scratch to make 100% (or near enough) use of the PS3's SPUs, when the work is put in and every bit of juice is wrenched out of the system can you achieve games as good looking as Uncharted 2 and MGS4, but it's a hell of a lot of work. Unless Sony suddenly waves a magic wand and makes the PS3 instantly easier to dev for, we just aren't going to see games that look better than the 360 versions on the PS3, you'll get close but it'll never surpass the 360.

Beleive me, if i had a 360 or even remotely wanted one (wich i kinda do mainly to play older xbox games on live), i probably would get most noticeably better multi-platform titles for it. IE: Ghost busters, Skate 2, Bayonetta yadadadadada

but i chose PS3 for its reliability, exclusives, free online, blu-ray, region free, and media center features. so i might as well stick with it, unless i had extra cash to buy a NEW 360/live/net adapter

I'm not debating the reliability of the PS3 over 360, just that if you have both, like a lot of people on here, that most games are worth buying on the 360 over the PS3.

thats pretty much true, its a shame that sony made the PS3 so hard to develop for, because if it wasnt they would probably in microsofts place in terms of developer popularity

The only reason a lot of the games on the PS3 suck compared to their X360 versions is because the devs just don't give a shit. And the devs just don't give a shit because the PS3 isn't as popular as the X360.

PS2 was hard to develop for too. It didn't really matter - because it was popular, you saw a hell of a lot more games for it and, in most cases, multiplatform titles were built with the PS2 in mind. The Xbox and Gamecube versions might have been on-par with the PS2 versions, but they were rarely superior.

The PS3's fault isn't that its hard to develop for - this was clearly just a case of Sony's advertising and marketing team failing, and failing hard. Didn't help that the first few games out the door for the system were mediocre at best.
