Seriously, What Happened To Nintendo?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Anytime someone says something negative about a console it is going to start up heated debate because someone who really likes said console will be offended. This threads going from opinions to people pretty much just slaggy stuff off.

Really? Because the entire substance of your post starting this thread is complaining about not just a few games, but a SINGLE game that bothers you.
Good job taking that sentence out of context. The next sentence says it's the fact that we're seeing too many on the Wii that bothers me

Yes, you are saying now that we are seeing too many games like this.

However, as I specifically mentioned, that is not what you said in your opening post to start this thread. In that post, pretty much all you did was complain about a SINGLE game. ONE. SINGLE. GAME.

You then complain that people don't get your point and you're really talking about the vast number of crappy games on the Wii. If that is what you meant in your original post, then you completely failed at communication.

All of this "So many bad games!" stuff is just stuff you have thrown in later after saying people did not understand the post you wrote about a single, specific game.

Um no, I was using it as another example of what is wrong with Nintendo, and the Wii.

It wasn't this one crap game that set me off. It's the fact that there's too many like this on the Wii, with a lot more on the horizon (check Gamespot's upcoming releases).

*Notice that last sentence directed totally at the Wii and how it basically relates to the Wii as a whole (think about it - "casual, low-budget simplicity"). Also notice that there's no mention of PS2 anywhere to be found.
You're quoting Wikipedia to support this idea? Really?

Up until a week ago, the Wikipedia entry for "dumplings" described "chicken and dumplings" as regionally confined to the state of* Kentucky. Seriously. You can check the history on that page if you wish.

* I edited this post after checking the article. Originally, I referred to only central Kentucky. I made this mistake because the article previously had previously stated that central Alabama was a hotbed of dumplings made of torn up tortillas.

If that was your intent, then you should have said so in the post. In your opening post you make NO reference to other games or "massive amounts of shovelware." You say "The Wii sucks because there is going to be a baby doll game."

Perhaps this is not what you intended to say. Since this seems to be the case, I strongly suggest you stay in school.

You want me to get it. Then explain yourself better, give links that backup what you are saying. I get that you don't think the Wii is worth it, but do you not see all the good games on the system not to mention that at least if it sucks you only spent $19.99 - $49.99 (not many of the proclaimed shovelware are at this price) as compared to $59.99 if you get shovelware on the other consoles. At least when I look at a Wii game I know what I am getting into. I see a bunch of pink, yoga, cooking and ponies I am not going to buy it. The other systems disguise their games as the most awesome game you'll ever play and you better get it or you are a loser. The NES, SNES, Atari, Sega, PS1-3 and XBOX are all guilty of that.

I will agree that yes there is plenty of stuff I don't want on the system or I think is lame, but I bought the system for the games I want, not not buy it for the games I don't. Nintendo hasn't changed they are still pushing their strong franchises from the SNES and NES like thay always have and selling what people want. Do you rememder the flood of platformers on the NES? If you don't like Nintendo games don't buy any of their systems. Games by Nintendo have always been the best selling point for me to get their consoles. The 3rd and 2nd party stuff I like is a bonus. N64 and Gamecube especially. You think I would have bought those systems if Nintendo didn't have any of their 1st party games on them. Talking about this makes me miss the 16-bit era where all the sega and ninty and even Hudson/NEC 1st party stuff is what made you deicide which console to buy.

I didn't realize that I needed to spell things out for you, Limewater. Perhaps I assumed that you may have already known about the Wii's shovelware and how this new game may relate to that?

My apologies if you've become somehow manipulated and disillusioned in some way by Nintendo. It's not all your fault. *Pat on the back* Don't worry, we'll make it through this.

I suppose I look at things a little differently. I'm not bothered by shovelware at all. Instead, it makes the true (sometimes hidden) gems that much greater by comparison. There are examples of "bad" products in every industry, be it television, film, literature.

Quite frankly they help stratify the tasteful from the tasteless and let's all admit that nothing feels better than looking down at the common masses and laughing as you power on your awesomely obscure and unrecognized console and game of choice. I don't think retro-collecting would be nearly as fun if every game was a gem, and every gamer was attracted to and shared the same level/type of taste. We retro gamers are sort of the equivalent of connoisseurs of fine literature, wine, or classical music. I say let the rest have their shovelware.

Of course I am aware that there are a lot of crappy games on the Wii. I don't even like Wii Sports.

But you can't complain about one thing and then expect people to telepathically understand that you're really complaining about something else.

Say I bitch and moan about the latest Madden game. From that, what can you conclude?

a) The Democrats control congress
b) I hate football games
c) I think there are too many sports games on whatever console I have
d) I don't like the latest Madden game

If you answered (d), you're correct! If you answered anything else, you don't understand how logic works.
