Finally Bought a Ltd Edition PSP, Recommend Me Some Games!

Post by hashiriya1 »

I have been in the market for a PSP for a long time. I knew I wanted a
special edition PSP just to have one different from the rest. The problem is
that all of the special edition PSPs just screamed "Look at me! I am a special edition!"
I don't really like that. I just wanted one with subtle differences.

Sony answered my calls by releasing the Gran Turismo Racing Pack.
I am a huge Gran Turismo fan, so I would have bought the game anyway.
The store I bought it at was selling it for 170 bucks. I couldn't believe it. Regular price is 220.

The only differences is that the L/R buttons are tinted, the garnish is gunmetal,
and there is a GT logo to the lower left of the X button.
Along with the GT UMD, it also came with a GT pouch, GT strap, and a 2gb memory stick.

Now the problem is that I don't know much about PSP games.
I have a PSP-1000 (with firmware 1.00), but that is only for emulation.
Crisis Core, Higurashi Daybreak, and Chains of Olympus are already on my list.
I already bought Evangelion Battle Orchestra, Salamander Collection, and Sengoku Canon

Can you guys recommend good PSP games? I hear Jeanne D'arc is really good.
Any input on that would be appreciated.

Although I listed RPGs, I prefer action/adventure, platformers, and puzzle games for a portable.

Thanks in advance!

Jeanne D'Arc is indeed amazing, and i comes from Level 5, who have a pretty good catalog.

I also liked:
Lumines (de facto puzzle game for the system)
Crush (AWESOME puzzle/platformer)
Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles (has full version of Symphony of the Night on it as well)
Daxter
Final Fantasy Tactics - War of the Lions (remake of the psx original - if you've never played it, shame on you!)
God of War - Chains of Olympus (as good as its console counterparts, believe it or not)
Legend of Heroes I, II, III (Not everyone likes these, but the main reason seems to be the crappy english translation)
Mega Man Powered Up (old school mega man!)
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops
Metal Slug Anthology
Persona
Power Stone Collection (POWER STONE!!)
Prinny Can I Really Be the Hero
Valkyrie Profile - Lenneth

I enjoy playing Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters. Most of my time is spent with MasterBoy which is a wonderful GB/GBC/SMS/GameGear emulator.

GTA: Vice city stories - really fun i put tons of hours on this.
Ridge Racer - i spent a lot of time with this one too
Katamari Forever - ok so the control is SLIGHTLY frustrating, but it doesnt bother me cuz im having too much fun rolling.
Space Invaders Extreme! - suprisingly addactive, it gets you into a trance.
God of War - duh
Gran Turismo - you already have it
Resistance Retribution - great 3rd person shooter
That Final Fantasy Dissidia is kinda cool i only played the demo, the demo for undead knights is really effin fun.

If you like the Nintendo Wars series at all, then definitely get Field Commander. It's basically the same as Advance Wars, but with 3D graphics and voice acting, it's a really great game if you're into turn-based strategy games.

Tokobot is another great game, it's a really unique platformer where you control these weird little robots that act as tools to help you solve puzzles and such. I think there's also a PS2 port of the game.

LocoRoco is a great puzzle/platformer game too, it's cute to the point of almost sickness, but it's ridiculously addictive. I think it's pretty cheap to get also.

There's also N+, which is a pretty fun platformer, but if you've already got it on your computer, there's not much of a difference on the PSP.

Lastly, there's the Power Stone collection, which is pretty awesome. The ports are perfect near as I can tell, and it even comes with the little VMU mini games, as well as WiFi multiplayer.

Those are pretty much all the games I have on my PSP right now, I mostly spend time on emulators and the like though.
My Want List!

Consoles: Sega Master System, NES Toploader, Genesis/32X, Sega CDX, SNES, 3DO FZ-1, Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Sony PS2, Nintendo Gamecube, Xbox Halo Edition, Wii, PS3
Handhelds: Atari Lynx, Sega Nomad, Neo Geo Pocket Color, GBC (Atomic Purple, Pokemon Edition), GBA (Pink OG, Silver SP, Spongebob SP+), DS (Phat, iXL), 3DS, PSP (1000, Go)

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Ratchet and Clank Size Matters
Secret Agent Clank
Gradius Collection
Daxter
Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier
Mega Man Legends

Here's a rule of thumb: look at your favorite PS2/3 games, there's probably a PSP equivalent.
