What do Undead Knights, Naruto Shippuden: Legends: Akatsuki Rising, NBA 2K10, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes and Cars: Race O Rama have in common? All of these are PSP games released on UMD after the PSP Go's October 1 launch -- and all are currently without a digital equivalent. Owners of the Go system are unable to play these games because they simply aren't available on the PlayStation Store.

Once again, Sony's hands-off approach to the PlayStation Network means third parties are responsible for getting their content on both UMD and the PlayStation Store. "It's up to individual third parties to decide if and when to publish their UMD releases on PSN. Most, if not all, are on board, as this is a revenue opportunity for them," we were told by Eric Lempel, SCEA's director of PlayStation Network operations. Namco, the one publisher that returned our request for comment, noted specifically that "there are currently no plans to release Akatsuki Rising on PSN right now," despite its October 6 release on UMD.

Now if only I didnt hate the concept of a download only console.

I want Monster Hunter I can play with buddies online, but cant stand holding the PSP for extended periods of time. This is mixed news - Thanks Neo Techni

I just don't see the point in buying game specific cards. Especially when you get nothing but some artwork and a card, no manual or anything. It was just me overstating things as usual.
Don't worry about it. Like I said, I'm familiar with your posting style. I would buy it for the same reason I would buy a cart of a game that's on a compilation. I just like to collect video games and their related junk.

This whole business with games coming out on UMD only after the launch of the Go is just adding insult to injury. Unbelievable, really.

It's just another reason why leaving developers to support the PSN on their own accord is just a bad idea. At least when Microsoft put the conditions for Live certification in place, as in every single game must contain achievements, must support certain live features if it's a multiplayer game etc it meant that the games were all uniformed and helped create a uniformed experience. With the PS3 it's up to the devs whether or not they can be bothered to put in things like trophies, or even release the damn game on the service full stop.

If it costs the devs extra effort and it's not mandatory, guess what, the devs aren't going to do it, especially when development costs are spiralling out of control these days. Considering most people are going to buy the UMD rather than download the title, especially if it's cheaper for a physical copy (and more often than not with the PSN, it is) is it really worth the extra effort after all?

Sony seriously need to suck up their pride and fix the glaring issues with their gaming division. Such as their cold stance on the problems with all the fat PS3s (as in no stance what-so-ever, "you get your warranty and if you don't have a receipt for your console then tough shit, buy another, sucker"). Or the fact that nobody wants to buy a PSP without a UMD, especially when they can't convert their existing titles to play on the bleeding things, way to shaft existing customers Sony. What next Sony? A free punch in the face with every PS3 Slim sold?

actually sony doesnt use the receipt for warranties, they go by the day the store registers the console as sold. i agree their hands off stance hurt gamers when it comes to things like trophies, custom soundtracks, 1080i, etc. but i love how unreal got usermods where ms refused
