Hey guys,
Just so you know the simply amazing PC game World of Goo is celebrating its 1 year anniversary and the developers (2D Boy) are allowing people to buy the game just by naming their price. I got mine for $1 because Im poor. You have to pay something, you may be able to pay below $1, but come on, lol.
Anyway, this game is super low spec and Im sure that most people have $1. This is a great way to get an amazing game and help out an indie developer.
So GO BUY THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!
World of Goo for... Whatever you want to pay for it.

Re: Name your price for World of Goo!!!!!!
World of Goo is awesome! I paid full price for it when it came out, and it was more than worth it. Jump on this if you don't already own the game!
Re: Name your price for World of Goo!!!!!!
I have never heard of this game and am not a big fan of PC gaming, but I decided to check it out. I hope I don't offend anyone, but I bought it for $.01. I am extremely broke, to the point where I am actually worried that purchase just overdrew my account. If that happens I will be charged a $30 overdraft fee thanks to the Karma Police
. Can't wait to check it out. I can't believe it normally goes for $20 and that they would do this type of deal. That's awesome customer relations right there and I am sure it will hook a lot of people on the game and the company!

World of Goo is on sale right now at 2dboy. You can pay whatever you want for the game. I paid just 1p for it. Not that I think it's worth that little, but just out of curiosity. Thought it would have a lower limit, but was really surprised. Kind of feel bad for exploiting it like that now though...
They have Win, Mac and Linux versions of the game. I suggest you all buy it. You'd be stark raving mad not to.

I have it for WiiWare and love this game. Anyone who doesn't have this game needs to get it. Support indy game developers and donate.
Just got it for my work pc for a $1 using this link. Thanks Niode.

Bought it for a buck, feel kinda like a jerk....but still excited to play
Re: World of Goo for... Whatever you want to pay for it.
I think anyone giving them some money for it, even if it is less than a buck or less, should not feel ashamed at all. I intend to buy it for under 5 bucks, haven't decided what I will pay for it.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't ever buy it for $20 - I'm fairly sure I will appreciate the game, but there are sooo many truly excellent older games I haven't played and so many quality freeware games for the PC that I can't justify paying even $20 (I won't even comment on typical full prices or non-indy releases). I'm glad there are many customers that are happy to support new releases at the full price as that is important for the industry - on the other hand I'm also glad that indy developers like these (and the big guys should do this kind of stuff more often as well) are extending shelf-lives.
Movies have a whole circuit and are still "in the market" in one way or the other decades after they were created (e.g. Disney movies). For games the same circuit won't really work but I feel this kind of stuff for games (I don't know, "Donateware"?) may be a way for games that are older (more than 1 year though) to stay for sale "for ever". Even if the minimum donation is 0.01 that is still infinitely more than 0.00 and better for the developers.

Re: World of Goo for... Whatever you want to pay for it.
This is a really good idea, it's a shame that the devs don't do similar things. I think the main issue is the development of the windows platform, it just doesn't seem worth developing the games so that they work on modern operating systems. I would love to see more games developed that are on Mac, Linux and PC. That is a cause I can really rally behind. Devs should be more platform agnostic. It's nice to see more and more indie devs (especially with Penny Arcade's Play Greenhouse distribution company) going this route. It would be awesome to see more old games available in this kind of format.Ivo wrote:Movies have a whole circuit and are still "in the market" in one way or the other decades after they were created (e.g. Disney movies). Just bought it, no idea when I will have the time to play it, but no matter! gave $2, not much, but wasn't getting it before, and anyway, better than paying 1 cent!!
Even at this price, they can make a fortune if enough people buy!
