So if I get one of those Action replay 4-1. Can I still save to the internal battery?

If the battery works, of course.

I hope to region mod mine eventually, as my 4-in-1 absolutely does not allow saving directly to the cart (it is indeed the version with the port) and because dealing with the boot screen is annoying. And though I don't have any of the games that effect this, it's worth mentioning that the memory on the cart doesn't work for one or two games (I want to say Vampire Savior, but I could be wrong).

My first 4-in-1 eventually ended up breaking after taking it out to swap some saves. I bought a replacement which works fine, but I can say they're finicky about being taken out.

So.....can you play backups with the 4-1 or just imports?

I want to make sure before I purchase another modchip.

imports only.

you always (in most cases save to the battery) not all games support direct saving to the cart...no games support saving to an illegal device IE gameshark/AR.

I just got my 4-in-1 Action replay from Play Asia in the mail today! I don't have any import games to try with it yet, but I do have an import of X-Men vs Street Fighter w/ a 4MB cartridge on the way as well, so I can try it out soon.

I'm pretty excited! I have a mod chip on the way too, so hopefully I can successfully install it this time.

Ok. So, I bought an Action Replay 4-1.

It arrived w/o a comms port on the top but in very good condition. I cannot play any advanced capcom games with the device. I get a 4mb error on boot up!!!

I did a little research and found a mod for the Action Replay cart...opened mine up only to find it has a completely different circuit layout than the "NCS" version that the mod works for. I can't tell if the model I have is a newer or older version.

Does anyone know a way I can get the capcom games to work with this version of the cart?

I am looking to pick up an Action Replay 4-in-1 as well, but I am only interested in the version with the comms port (ultimately I want to transfer files between the Saturn and my PC).

Does anyone know a good place to buy one online that has the comms port?

I am wanting to buy the USB Data Link from http://www.gamingenterprisesinc.com/home.html. He can also do the mod to the ARP if it doesn't have a comms port (not sure if this is the mod you were talking about, BigTinz), but I was hoping I could pick one up cheap enough to not have to pay the additional 15 bucks plus shipping both ways.

On a side note, does anyone have the above mentioned USB data link that can vouch for it?
