Poblems while saving on Donkey Kong Country (SNES)

The game runs fine but the game doesn't save well.When I reset the game the save is still here but when I turn the console off the save is gone.

What can I do to solve this? Perhaps it's the battery fault?

Sounds like the battery in the cart is dead. I'm not sure if you can replace them in SNES carts, I know most carts you can though.
