Post by grittykitty »

ever find yourself not liking the games that everyone else thinks is the bee's knees? i remember not liking guardian heroes and wondering if i was just crazy. shining force 3 bored me as well, and i don't care for 1st person shooters in general :|

Grand Theft Auto, Halo, Pokemon, The Sims, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid 2, World of Warcraft. I could go on forever.

I don't hate them necessarily, but these are the ones that I don't get excited about:
Halo -- haven't played it much, but didn't like the controls
The Sims -- My own life is enough for me
any MMORPG - too time-consuming, gameplay doens't seem compelling
Tekken -- seems mediocre in terms of gameplay and characters are too weird.
Legend of Zelda games - I've enjoyed some, but for the most part, I don't like having to run around Hyrule over and over again. I have a short attention span
Mario 64 - Mario never had the same appeal to me (or my wife) in 3D
Grand Theft Auto - many of the same thoughts as The Sims and MMORPGs above, plus I'm not into the whole violence and language thing just for the sake of having it. If I was to play a GTA clone, I would go for Simpsons Hit & Run -- at least its Simpsons

I'm sure I could think of more....

I'm like that for several games that are the proverbial "bee's knees"; I don't care for much in terms of hardcore RPG's or MMO's; especially stuff like WoW and Final Fantasy. Games like the Sims seem a bit sad, I mean how lame would your life have to be that you have to make a new life that you'll never ever acheive...ever. As for GTA, I really only like causing as much havoc as possible, followed by some crazy-ass jumps a la Dukes of Hazzard; I don't care for the missions in those games.

Half-Life series, Halo, God of War, Grand Theft Auto, The Sims (but SimCity and SimAnt are favorites of mine!), and probably some others I can't think of.

As for MMORPGs I have not really played, nor have an interest to, any of the mainstream ones (WOW, Everquest, etc). Only one I played regularly back in the day was called Dark Ages (Not DAOC); mainly was interesting because it was a player-controlled society and very role-play. However it sucks today - the devs figured they would get more $$$ turning it into a hack-en-slash PVP heretical fest.

Halo - above all other

OK ill admit that at the start my distaste to it was extremely biased, as it was a MS flagship game, and I also have an inherent dislike of
FPS's on consoles.

But I have played it about 3 tmes for about an hour each ( in the hope that I'd eventually get it). BUt I just dont, I think the baddies look pretty crap, the wealons are far too colourful or something and everyone going on and on about vehicles - so what? Tribes was rocking that years before.

I suppose maybe its fame is due to it being one of the first decent (and ill admit it is that) online playable FPS for consoles, but I cant get excited about it, actually Im considering giving it one more go lol, cos I do like all that 'planet in a ring' type stuff, reminds me of Greg Bear books, but tbh Im pretty sure I still wont end up liking it.

Final fucking Fantasy... fuck Final fucking Fantasy.

The next time some one comes in my house and says "so what's ya playin'?"

me: *some random RPG*

them: "Oh Final Fantasy! Cool... those games are pretty."

final fantasy 7

I don't understand the appeal of that game. I thought it was quite boring.

yeah, i'm not into final fantasy either. granted the only one i ever really played was x, but i basically had to convince myself "you can't give up, this game is so great, play it til the end". bah, torture i say. i must admit i was turned off by panzer dragoon saga at first but it grew on me pretty quick
