Looks like TMNT The Arcade games is on its way to the Wii's Virtual Console.
Thing is that it's the NES version.

Why would you buy this when you could get the arcade-authentic version on XBox Live Arcade for about the same price (except for the fact that you have a Wii but know 360)
Same goes for other games like Street Fighter II.
I really think the Virtual Console needs an Arcade section running a version of MAME or something to keep up.
Virtual Console Releasing Lackluster Versions of XBLA Games
Well actually, the NES version is better. It has many more stages, and they aren't crappy ones either. They're quite unique. And the graphics may not be as impressive, but they are also unique and redrawn, rather than just toned down from the Arcade version. I also find that the combat is more...reliable on NES. Hits seem to connect better.
But I guess lack of 4-player sucks. I dunno. I played TMNT2 on NES religiously with my cousin every weekend for about a year.

Well, I grew up playing the arcade version a LOT, so I guess I'm biased. And yeah, the 4 player support would be pretty important to me.Mozgus wrote:Well actually, the NES version is better. When I got the NES version I was absolutely appalled that it didn't work with 4 players... though I must have beaten that game a million times with my little brother. I'm with racketboy on this one; I don't need another copy of the NES version. I want four players, isn't that the whole point of the Wii anyway-- to get more people to play?
Re: Virtual Console Releasing Lackluster Versions of XBLA Ga
Doesn't bother me because virtual console is as it states Virtual console and not Virtual Arcade as for inferior ports yep thats true but it's also true that the consoles had games that were not available to the Arcades too and the Xbox360 won't be getting the console games.racketboy wrote:Looks like TMNT The Arcade games is on its way to the Wii's Virtual Console.

I don't mind it not having Arcade section in the Wii virtual console but I would like some old classics to be rereleased on the console.
Like Virtua Fighter 2 port from the arcade not Sega Saturn and also some games are just outside the scope of the consoles power either way.
I mean I've bought Street fighter so many times now I'll just play Streetfighter Aniversary Edition on the PS2 its near most perfect rendition although I definitely would buy it if it was released on the Wii coz Streetfighter is still one of the main reasons I play on the PS2 for VS battles. In fact I just released the Wii doesn't have many VS fighting games on it yet but I guess I am looking forward to Guilty Gear for it

So funny that you menchen this, but Nintendo announced that they are going to release the god awful SNES port of Final Fight.

I just hope Capcom released a HD enhanced treatment (like they did with SSF2T and SPF2X) on the XBLA.

Na i don't think that's quite right since people that want to play Nes games will play Nes games on the virtual console.racketboy wrote:Looks like TMNT The Arcade games is on its way to the Wii's Virtual Console.

I mean I have both the Xbox and Wii and I like the fact that on Xbox i can download Arcade perfect titles whereas on the Wii console i can play virtual console games without the damn borders that Xbox games use to have the correct aspect ratio.
personally I like comparing different versions
I guess there's always virtual arcade to think about

Please do not bump 2 year old topics.

I don't mind bumps as long as they are relevant....

Re: Virtual Console Releasing Lackluster Versions of XBLA Games
It'd be nice if Konami supported the Virtual Arcade but first I think Nintendo has to.
Seriously there's a ton of potential for the service but it's going to be wasted if zero games are released.
Anyway I thought the NES version of TMNT arcade was terrible. Exclusive stages are great sure but it doesn't mean much when the fighting is dull. The arcade game has always been rather easy but the NES version just takes it to the point of being trivial.
