Why is there so little hyping for Halo 3 ODST?

Man, I donno about this Halo junk anymore. I'm a fan of the first game, its my favorite fps but Halo 2 sucked so bad and Halo 3 was okay but the addition of multiplayer turned millions of gamers into Halo 3 douche bags. Now the Halo franchise is being watered down by making this spin-off game? No doubt the campaign will be right fun but I don't think it's worth buying. Now when Halo: Reach comes out, I may get back into it.

lol Halo 2 is actually my favorite in terms of the multiplayer, but Halo 1 still has the best campaign.

The reviews for this game are somewhat scattered, although they aren't as high or steady as for the other "main" releases. The single player campaign is somewhere from 5-7 hrs long and most reviewers say you should play it alone first b/c co-op ruins the atmosphere of it. Aside from the campaign you get a disc that includes Halo 3 online and all of the old map packs + 3 new maps tossed in. Basically this game is an expansion selling for $60 and people are calling it out.

For me, the original Halo was the best. I spent hours at a friends house one summer playing it and smashing Wart Hogs together Back then we also used some back-door technique to meet people on GameSpy forums and then connect with them to play Halo online through the XBox using Local Lan The things you learn as kids... Nothing beat Blood Gulch with vehicles and 8 players... After the original game I faded off the series; Halo 2 just didn't draw my attention and I can't even remember what happens in Halo 3.

I never actually played any of the Halo games. I never got into it, but I'm more into Gears of War and RE5, which I'm still playing. This game just a stand-alone expansion game so that is probably why its not that big of a deal, but I've seen pretty long commercials on Spike tv when I watch UFC and TNA.

I thought that was evident from the first Halo game. Apparently some need to get out more...

Halo Reach is the next (and last) main game is the series.

So was Halo 3 originally, so I wouldn't count on that.

Well, I agree with you about Rare, they have been so disappointing since they stopped making N64 games. Microsoft should have just saved their money and left Rare with Nintendo, since they are obviously done making good games.
But I don't agree with you about Bungie. You see, they never made innovative games in the first place, they just made really good games. Rare used to be innovative, but not Bungie.

In my defence I would say Marathon was an innovative fps series.. For a short while yes but innovative all the same!

What did it do that was innovative exactly? I was under the impression that it was just another Doom clone.
