The Star Ocean Franchise in general pisses me off because they bait-and-switch you for expecting a sci-fi RPG and you get generic fantasy world instead. Mainly referring to the first one for SNES. Haven't gotten very far in 3 and don't own 2 or 4.Parn wrote:Star Ocean 4. The game continues to make me rage. Anyone that's played it likely understands why I hate it so much.

Just finished GoW2 (not Sony's GoW2!) and came out pleasantly surprised. I was disappointed with Epic's first game but the sequel was far better.
Speaking of 16-bitters I found Sparkster to be mildly disappointing. Gone was the charm of the clunky, lumbering rodent of RKA.

Truthfully, I'd avoid the series then. I absolutely adore the second, but all of them set you up for a sci-fi RPG and then stick you on an under-developed world for at least part of the game.AmishSamurai wrote:The Star Ocean Franchise in general pisses me off because they bait-and-switch you for expecting a sci-fi RPG and you get generic fantasy world instead. And while we're at it, I feel I should mention Soul Calibur 3 as a major let down. Especially when it corrupted my memory card.

I'm having flashbacks to the shmups.com forums where the Cave haters always post "DoDonPachi" as a response to any thread asking opinions of bad shooters, merely to get a rise out of the other half of the forum.hashiriya1 wrote:Street Fighter IV

That is great! SFIV always reminded me of DoDonPachi somehow, too!
I anticipated SFIV for months, and when it was finally released in July of 2008, I went to the game center almost daily after work to play it. I gave it many chances, but the graphics and dumbed-down gameplay just really let me down. I know their whole angle about going back to the roots, but it seems to me that games should evolve.

Street Fighter IV was a pretty big disapointment for me too, I mean don't get me wrong - there's nothing technically wrong with the game, but I just couldn't find the motivation or time to put into learning the in's & out's of the mechanics, it's just too different from 3s which for me remains the pinacle of the Street Fighter series.

for me:
Sonic the hedgehog 2007 - im a sonic fan and this game was horrible. i hated those running levels the most.
Sonic Unleashed - after playing the demo i thought this would be the greatest Sonic game since Sonic 3. but those damn hub worlds and werehog levels killed the game. damnit sega!

Got another: Knights of the Old Republic II
Now I really enjoyed KOTOR II and it is an awesome game, but I found the ending disappointing and all in all I preferred most everything about the first game - the characters, the story, the design and overall setup. It is a great game, to be sure, but I don't feel it lives up to the original.

Re: Games that disappointed you the most.
Ill second Street Fighter 4. It was hyped for what 10 years, and when I finally got a chance to play it, I just went back to Guilty Gear and Third Strike. Ill admit, Im not the best at 2d fighters, but I enjoy them alot. But SF4 just didnt have the draw for me. Now after this weekend I may feel differently, I am going to see an old buddy of mine who is excellent at fighting games and said he will show me the ins and outs of it (mainly so I can trounce my coworkers).
Another was Battle of Britain (2001). It was made by alot of old Lucas employees who made the excellent Battle of Britain back in the 80s. This one was just crap compared to the first.
