Guncon Question

I found a copy of Time Crisis for PS1 at my local Salvation Army for a dollar fifty, but to play it you need a Guncon. Would the original grey Guncon work on a PS2? I would think it would, but before I buy something, I wanna be sure.

I would think so, but it will not work on lcd or plasma screen, so beware of that.

Well I got a big ol' tube TV so that wouldn't be a problem. It's just I found a Guncon 1 on ebay with a copy of Point Blank 2 and I did wanna get that eventually so its like killing two birds with one stone.

I'm running with Guncon 2 on my slim PS2 and it plays just fine. Only game that doesn't work is Lethal Enforcers or Area 51, I think. I have Area 51 for my Saturn so I don't mess with it anymore. But Elemental Gearbolt, Point Blank, Time Crisis, all the good ones are no problem ...

Are you sure it's a Guncon 2?

The Guncon 2 is bright orange and only plugs into the USB port, while the original Guncon is gray and only plugs into the controller ports.

Those games use the konami Justifier light gun.

So you plug a grey Guncon into the controller ports then? Well then that should work. My second player PS2 controller is a old blue DualShock for PS1 that I got back in the day when I got my PS2

Are you sure the Guncon 2 works with Time Crisis on the PS1? Because I tried it before on my fat PS2 and it didn't work, so I was then forced to buy an original grey PS1 Guncon.

EDIT: According to Wikepedia, the Guncon 2 is not backwards compatible with the original Playstation because it uses USB instead of the standard PS controller input.
