New 2d sonic game...

Whether this game sucks or not, so long as Sonic doesn't transform into a werewolf/vampire/squidman and doesn't use a sword/gun/magical pimpcane I will buy this game simply to guide Sega away from making ungimmicky crap and to say "hey, even if it sucked, you at least tried to make a retro sonic game, this is the right direction, try again".

Re: New 2d sonic game...
Why do I see that wonky title screen with bits of the torso of Sonic's sprite exposed that weren't meant to be exposed? In fact, I think I see that bizarre, loopy-armed thing in references and articles on Sonic more than how it really appears in the game: . Where did this bizarre, faulty title-screen image come from, and why does it seem that no one realizes that it's flawed?Pulsar_t wrote:

I had always thought thats how the beta or emulated version incorrectly makes it appear. And as an emulation is the easiest way for a magazine or website to obtain a screenshot, thats why you always see the incorrect image.Original_Name wrote:Where did this bizarre, faulty title-screen image come from, and why does it seem that no one realizes that it's flawed?

Any coincidence that this news breaks on 9/9/09? I think most of us are feeling a little Sega nostalgic and this teaser couldn't have been dropped at a better time. Reminds me a little of the old Sega's marketing (anyone remember Sonic 2sday?). If they would just release a solid 2D game for Sonic, I think it'd go over real well. Unfortunately, with this teaser comes a lot of hype and expectations. If they nail it, Sega could be on their way back to greatness. If they drop the ball (again) it'll be even tougher to retain any sort of credibility. Frankly, I think they can do it. New leadership is in place at Sega and maybe that's enough to get some changes made. And while they're busy making the new Sonic 2D, how about a new Streets of Rage, Phantasy Star, Shining Force and Shinobi? It's amazing how many valuable franchises Sega has, yet pisses away.

Not that there's much news here, but a little checking around on the whois for needlemouse.com shows that the registrar is private, meaning that it could be anyone, registered through dreamhost.com, and that the domain was secured on August 21 of this year.
YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD. GAME OVER.
