Games You Hate That Everyone Else Loves

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Why would you want to go to your living room to a couch?

Real men use a good reclinable chair and a moderatedly sized screen for all their gaming needs.

Especially when you consider that modern mice work on basically every surface, so I never have issues of my mouse not being responsive.
This I have seen posters have but it is still very obscure and not many would do that. To me it would seem very cluttered and I would rather just have one controller that has the correct amount of buttons for every single game and doesn't require a desk. I prefer minimalism and social acceptability rather than having an internet dwelling gamer cave.

@General_Norris: Yes most living rooms have couches. Not even sure what you're trying to say here.

I mean, why would you want to go to your living room to play in a couch when you can have a more specialized spot with the same confortability levels.

Also, social acceptability?

Do you play in your living room or your computer desk?

Both because I don't really have a TV on my desk, I will once I get a good screen with composite support and such.

The only exception is multiplayers games for obvious reasons, better get the friends on the couch than on the bed.

Sorry about being absent from this thread for so long, if Flak wants my reasons, I'll happily give them.

I've played all Three Halos, Beaten all of them, owned the first two, and played plenty of Xbox Live.

I just said enough said, as what else could I say that hasn't been said?

I just dislike the little kids on live that shouldn't be there, and the people that act like Halo is the only game ever, as my friends have tended to be this way as well and practically suffocated me with it.

It's good on parts, and bad on parts.

So lets agree to disagree, we all have our own opinions.

I'd rather have a good control scheme. I find it's more fun to play a game when I'm not wrestling with the controls.

dsheinem wrote:There are lots of controller-only FPS games pre-Halo. Goldeneye, the Doom ports, Zero Tolerance, AvP, etc. In fact, I would guess the reverse is true and that most console FPSs before Halo had NO keyboard/mouse support as there was simply nowhere to plug them in. I thought that the Dreamcast was the first to even offer this option...
PS1 has a mouse. I think you could even use the SNES mouse with its respective port of Doom. It was compatible with many of the FPSs on the system. From my observations (being shoulder deep in FPS gaming culture when Quake III, Half Life and Unreal Tournament were fresh), Goldeneye aside, no one took controller based FPSs seriously until Halo. Again, I'm amazed that some new aged gamers still consider it a superior form of control in an FPS over the keyboard and mouse.

Same. I have no problem pulling up the mouse and keyboard on my couch. The compactness and ease of use from controller while gaming from a couch is an out-dated and tired excuse.

Outside of Wolfenstien for SNES, I don't easily recognize any FPSs on this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SNES_Mouse

Hell, even on a PC I used arrows/ctrl/space/tab for Wolf 3D and Doom as they didn't have mouselook.

As for the PS1 mouse, I recognize Final Doom and Quake 2 as FPSs, but nothing else from this list:

Sorry, but I don't buy that console games were using mice and or keyboards for FPSs until recently. It was only last gen that a fraction of them allowed it (some Dreamcast and some PS2 games), but before that I doubt there was support for any more than 2-3 FPS games for any console.

Halo and Gears Of War don't suck but they are definitely overrated.

I've tried really hard to get into both games but I have a tough time for some reason
