Wolfenstein is already dropping price.
I went to the local Target today and picked up my copy on PC for $30. My friend said he found a copy marked down for $35 at Walmart and another found it for $45. Is this game really selling THAT bad? I mean, sure its nothing as amazing as Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny, or Return to Castle Wolfenstein. At least the 15 minutes I've played so far has been fun, and certainly worth at least a $30 dollar purchase. This kind of disappoints me. What are your thoughts?

It didn't even take a week for my GameStop to have pre-owned copies of the game start piling up. I haven't played the game yet, but that is hardly an encouraging sign.

I'm on the final boss at the moment - the multiplayer is really nothing special, but the single player has some nice ideas, some memorable boss encounters, loads of secrets and a ton of Nazis to kill. Yeah, it can't match up to RtCW, but for what it is, it's a lot of fun and should last you a good 10-15 hours, depending on how obsessive you are about finding all the secrets.

I wasn't planning on playing multiplayer. I was thinking I would be very disappointed considering I'm so much in love with Enemy Territory.Bootaaay wrote:I'm on the final boss at the moment - the multiplayer is really nothing special, but the single player has some nice ideas, some memorable boss encounters, loads of secrets and a ton of Nazis to kill. I've only put an hour in or so but have liked it so far (still need to get it online) probably not worth the 50 I paid for it (only copy in the store I got it from) but oh well someone has to pay for rage's development haha
Re: Wolfenstein is already dropping price.
I have always wondered whether this is an accurate measure of the quality of a game. It seems (at least judging my friends) that there is a rising group of gamers who have no interest (or little) in replaying games. Now it probably says something that they have beaten the game so quickly, but maybe it is a great game, but these people use the opportunity to trade in every game they buy (except maybe their true favorites) so that they can get something new to play.the7k wrote:It didn't even take a week for my GameStop to have pre-owned copies of the game start piling up. Also, what is this game? a new Wolf 3D? Is it the same as the classic just redone or a new game entirely? Excuse me for not knowing much about it, or anything about it, as I am sure it is pretty common knowledge at this point and I missed the boat.

It's a new game entirely. It does take place after RTCW.vash23n wrote:I have always wondered whether this is an accurate measure of the quality of a game. Which brings the other question. Why is it so hard for developers/publishers to put a number on a new game. Was it really that hard to put IV under Wolfenstein logo?
As far as overall timeline I'm pretty sure it goes:
Spear of Destiny
Wolfenstein 3D > Return to Castle Wolfenstein (they are the same for the first part of the game then diverge)
Wolfenstein (2009)

Re: Wolfenstein is already dropping price.
I think you're seeing tons of used copies because people were pumped up for the next installment in the Wolfenstein series, but when the game turned out to be less than incredible, they are returning it. Maybe.
It got 75 on metascore, how bad can it be?

Re: Wolfenstein is already dropping price.
if it was released months ago i probably would've picked it up. But the way it looks now, I'm happily playing batman and have 4 more games coming in the next couple months.
wolfenstein fell into the trap of a game i'm interested in but there was a glut of games i wanted to play this holiday season and it got beat out. Same with alpha protocol, section 8, halo odst (which, i hate halo but i love firefly. I'm torn) and a couple others i can't remember off the top of my head.
I'll pick it up in 6 months when it is 20 bucks.

When will these companies learn how important release dates are? Spring has always been begging for even mediocre games to rush in and claim victory. It rarely seems to happen. GTA4 pulled an April release, but it was going to sell millions regardless.nickfil wrote:if it was released months ago i probably would've picked it up.
