The guy had a seriously worrying spending habit. that's not a hobby, that's going out and buying anything just for the rush.

I'm not surprised that his wife and kid left him, did he even feature them in any of his videos? Did he ever mention them in his videos?

I'm going to try and hold on to my collection as long as possible and if I have kids (hopefully) I'm definitely going to share my collection with them.

My fiancée doesn't mind my collection but she definitely lets me know when I'm spending too much time with it.

This was really sad, I just recently found about about luke but I thought he was a really cool guy. Sad to see he let this happen to him.

omg. OMG. OMFG. What a total BITCH. She was not worth it anyway man. Even if you hadn't a huge video game collection and you had stayed together, she'd probably still cheat on you, later on in the relationship, cause that's how bitches like that work.

The fact that she actually laughed tells me her soul is sooooooooo rotten.

Why should the thread be locked? There's some relevant discussion going on here, aside from a few off-topic messages.

After the initial shock of seeing a guy's life fall apart on a video on youtube, I also agree with what others said. He most likely wasn't ready for the commitment of marriage and having a child. Even though he was buying all that stuff for cheap prices, he still bought tons of stuff which equaled time/money the family could have used better. When you marry, you need to co-exist with your significant other. You can't just continue being a single nerd with a spending spree. It's just too selfish.

Of course we could only have part of the story here. After all, the guy didn't really document the other side of his life (the more important side.) At least we can take a note from his mistakes and hopefully avoid the same problems for ourselves.

hahaha. My cousin was so infuriated by this guy, he told me to post this stuff he wrote here:

irst of all I would like to point out that me and my cousin are huge fans of videogames,video-consoles etc.but THANK GOD we are not like this guy! This dude that you see on the above youtube video and the one at the end of this post, who by the way looks like he got his ass beat by Chuck Norris, is one of the biggest losers we have ever seen in our lives.

But what defies a loser? For some people being a loser means that the last vigaina they have ever seen was their mothers, for others not being able to stop touching themselves while watching anime, or getting an errection when mario is yelling "WOOHOO".

But this guy is the biggest loser of all because he had a life that most people would kill for. He had one cute baby boy and a wife and he threw it all away to play Mario,Megaman and Castelvania...did I say play? I don't think he even played them. I don't say that having a hobby is bad but if your hobby doesn't leave you with free time to play with your son then you have issues man!

I'm talking about a guy that was so obsessed with collecting games and consoles, that he was forgetting that he had a whole family to support! And the funny thing is that in most of his videos, he repeatedly said that he got some games several times because they were "calling his name"or that the games and consoles he had "wanted to have a backup", I didn't know that videogames in Japan were possesed or that they needed backup to fight off the Yakuza. Of course his wife left him and took their kid with her (I wouldn't leave my baby with him too if I knew that he gets more hard ons with retro gaming rather than his own wife) .

But at least he got his consoles to bring him joy and comfort in the cold days of winter . Unfortunately I thing that his guy will eventually end up like the crazy lady with the cats from the Simpsons, but in his case the cats will be videogames. To sum up, I don't hate the dude or have something personal with him but I get angry when people do stupid shit like this. I would understand if he had a gambling problem or a drugs problem but GAMES... GAMES dude get serious!!!!!!

the 2 youtube videos I couldn't bother to post.

and I have to agree, I felt sorry for the guy at first, but after giving it some thought, the guy did fuck up his family. I'm surprised she didn't leave him earlier. He did it for 9 months. He made 10 videos average each day. WTF man. You have a fucking family. You can't cast it aside to play with your video games

The amount of gaming stuff this guy owned was obscene. LITERALLY obscene and judging by the amount of videos he put up in such a short timespan, and that doesn't include all the time he spent playing video games, repairing and modding systems, as well as shopping at Japanese Electronic thrift stores. It's so evident that this guy had no life outside gaming. Which is fine if you are single and have no other commitments, but when you have a wife and kid you can't keep living your life as if you were still single. It's incredibly selfish. You can't have it both ways. I knew early on that he was probably an addict and a compulsive spender. I never could understand why somebody would buy multiple units of the same system and multiple copies of games and his justification was "because it looked lonely" or it was "calling to him" or "I just have the cart" It seemed he had more fun buying games then he did playing them. because the more stuff you buy the less time you have to enjoy the stuff you already own. I guess I have a hard time understanding collectors because I see no point in buying game you either already own or are probably never going to play. Having something just for the sake of having it is a concept I don't get because that's money I could put to better use. I guess that's why Im not a collector.

It really makes me wonder if perhaps he was ready for marriage and family. Because when you look at his videos he seems pretty immature. He was living in Japan and probably didn't have many friends since he was a foreigner and no family. So he probably got married because he was lonely. His wife got tired of his obession with his hobby took the kid and ran. Quite frankly I don't blame her but he clearly wasn't ready for such a commitment.
