PS3 slim
Re: PS3 slim
I'll definetly be picking one up. when i get rid of my current one.
Re: PS3 slim
The recent 80's (and probably the only ones you can find in a store) removed all forms of PS2 BC. There are rumors, though, that they're going to add back in software BC through a system update.RadarScope1 wrote:Not to mention that the 80gb model has at least some ps2 bc via software, and you can replace the hdd. Early word says the slim will have a non-removable hdd, but it is 120gb.Weekend_Warrior wrote:MEET THE PS3 SLIM

I do have to admit it's kinda ugly. Think I actually might try to spring for the $299 80GB model tomorrow or this weekend (granted it's still in stock).
Anyway, good on Sony and - told ya so!

Re: PS3 Slim picture
any word on if the gamestop pre-owned consoles are going to drop by 100 too? I'd like to get a 60gb.
Re: PS3 Slim picture
Merged the threads. We don't need so many PS3 threads going around. Now this thread has pictures.
Actually the most recent ones also have the matte finish.Jrecee wrote:Hm I thought it was going to be glossy like the current one. I like this better anyway, doesn't show fingerprints. But it's still kinda big from what I can tell. We need comparison shots.

Re: PS3 slim
And even at $299 for either version, to me at least, it's still kind of spendy.
Ow! My small intestine!
Re: PS3 slim
299 Euros?!
So that's going to be £250 in this country then.
Ridiculous. Pass.
I can get a Blu-ray played for less than £150 now. I can't believe they still haven't put backwards compatibility in. We still only have semi-backwards compatibility with the 60GB version. What is Sony doing?

Re: PS3 slim
We've waited for 2 years now for a proper price drop and we get a measly £50 reduction?!
That's even if they reduce the price based on currency conversion (not including tax). 299 Euros = £255. I can honestly see this coming out at £299. That's not a fucking price drop, no matter how you spin it. Yes it's a price drop on the £400 160GB version that sold dismally in this country, even when you bundle Infamous with it but not when you consider that Zavvi before it filed for insolvency was flogging the 80GB version for £270 and they STILL couldn't shift 'em.
Consider my hat firmly sat on my head.
Edit: Amazon are selling for £250. That's still not enough of a price drop for it to matter. Especially since you don't get anything bundled and you might not even get an HDMI cable with it (if the OG PS3 is anything to go by) which is just ridiculous.
However I'm glad they got rid of that stupid Spiderman font and gone back to the original Playstation 2 font, albeit slightly curver.

Re: PS3 slim
Yep I was right.
Other OS option has been removed, and no user upgradable hard drive. Why the compromises Sony? Sony drop the price but remove features. Every price drop Sony has ever done has removed some sort of functionality from the device. First price drop lost backwards compatibility, card reader and two USB ports. Now they've removed yet more features.
What next Sony? Remove the costly Bluray drive and go fully digital distribution?
Still no bundled HDMI. So that's another £5 to add onto the price. Are Sony really that stingy as to not bundle in a cheap 1m HDMI cable?official Playstation site wrote:Product Outline: PlayStation®3 (CECH-2000)

Re: PS3 slim
Yep. I nearly bought a bluray player back in december, but it didn't come with an hdmi cable. The guy said the quality would be worthless without one (no idea if that's true) and proceeded to show me the $85 monster cables. I passed.Niode wrote:Still no bundled HDMI.
