agree COMPLETELY.

The only time the modded Xbox gets pulled out is if I want a quick fix or I have friends over and we rifle through games pretty quick (plus I have 4 controllers for the Xbox and no multi-taps for the SNES/NES/GENESIS etc.).

Otherwise, yes, I agree with the sentiments mentioned earlier in the thread. The only games I play emulated are ones that are either imports (Twinbee series), or too pricey for me to purchase at the moment (Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, etc.).
Systems: Atari 2600, Atari Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Genesis 3, Genesis 2, 32X, Sega CD (model 2), Saturn (model 1), Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox (Modded), Xbox 360, GameBoy, GBA SP, Game Gear, PSP... always adding more

if i dont know anything about a game but have some vague interest in it i give it a shot on an emulator, if i like it i might put it on a list to actually purchase it and dedicate more time to. i just dont feel to happy going out on limbs for games i'm going to pay more than like, 3 bucks for.

I'm going with emulation even though I own the real copy of most of the games. My reason is I got a ps2 to usb adapter or I can use my arcade controls so I can play all the rare games I wanted to play and I don't have to change out the games, I'm lazy. I do play my systems every week too, but mostly collect them.

While I'm no angel, I do prefer to have real copies of my favorite games. However, I find no shame is owning a factory sealed copy of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and playing a burnt copy. That's what I call "Having your cake and eating it too."

Plus, I don't feel shame when I play a burnt copy of a game like Evangelion: Battle Orchestra or Battle Stadium DON - you know, games that are fun for a giggle, but I sure as hell wouldn't pay the astronomical prices they fetch online. Of course, I don't consider those games to be part of my 'collection'.

Heh. I'm with you there. Here's the picture I have on my backloggery home page taken from my collection:

Notice that Shadow of the Colossus is the only one with a 'beaten' circle. The others all are unfinished.

Fair warning to you, JT. Be prepared for much frustration once you pick up Odin Sphere.

Have fun with dragon quest viii as well. That game is nothing but a time sink.

While I will always have a physical collection: save states, the ease of screenshots, and the ability to play a collection on the go, make me favor emulation for my actual playtime. Even the Wii gets its fair share of emulation time, I was playing Pole Position II on it last night.
