Buying a 360

Post by MaliceValentine »

I was deciding between to purchase my own (instead of playing my brothers) or not bothering seeing as the ps3 is out of my range.

and i looked at the games there are 3 titles im looking forward too

Bayonetta
Brutal legend
Splatterhouse

I also own 3 games Bioshock, Sonic Unleashed and Eternal Sonata

can some one list some more games worth purchasing thats not an FPS or GTA clone because at this rate im considering not buying one, because it's littered with FPS's and uncreative garbage.

Final Fantasy XIII is going to be on the 360, and if you're not considering a PS3 that might be the way to go.

360 is perfect for rockband because of all the dlc tracks. So if you are into that- it would be your console of choice.

Just because it is an FPS, doesn't mean it is unimaginative. You own bioshock lets not forget. There are a couple others that you might like. But true, if you are not a fan of the style, i would avoid games like farcry and call of duty.

mirror's edge
call of Juarez games if you like westerns
The orange box - worth it for portal. Rest is a bonus
left 4 dead- if you like multiplayer online, this is it. Very little halo dickery
Oblivion/fallout 3
Rainbow six vegas 2 is more tactical then shootery. fun game.

Third person...
deadspace
mass effect - best game i've played on the 360. Not without flaws for sure, but great.
Tomb raider aniv- i'm probably in the minority, but I liked it, and it is cheap.
ninja gaiden II

I'm not one for racers... but...
burnout paradise is fucking fun.

RTS... only if you don't have a pc.
civ revoluion
a couple of command and conquer games out there. Haven't played em though.

fighters...
street fighter IV
KOF

downloadable arcade stuff has a great list. More than this- but off the top of my head
ikrugua
TMNT arcade
Shadow complex
castle crashers
braid
Rez
marvel vs capcom 2
street fighter II hd remix
monkey island remake
1942 hd remix
bionic commando rearmed

as far as stuff coming out that isn't out yet...
boarderlands looks fantastic. Beautiful style to it. Cool stuff with AI
brutal legend like you said
batman arkham asylum
if you like bayonetta you might like dante's inferno. Same kinda god of war clone.
Halo ODST is admittedly retarded. But it caters to the firefly fan in me.

You've stated your thesis, but refuse to backup your claims with data. Fail.

"sell your 360 games and save for a PS3."

I second this. Like budsmoka said, there is a price drop on the horizon.
Plus, and this is what i just cant understand, why would anyone want to buy games for a console that, three years later stands the 90% CHANCE of failing and NOT being fixed (since the warranty is up), thus making your thousands of dollars worth of games useless. As a collector, i like to play my game twenty years later or more down the line. Well, even if microsoft fixes the consoles now (after the 3 years for a fee), they eventually will stop services for it, just like they have for the original xbox. Then those games are just pretty coasters and that is crap. If they redesign the 360 (which is the current rumor as to what will occur when the natal comes out), then I have no complaints with the console but, until then, the things is just shoddy. If anyone thinks the new chipsets changed anything, you are very misinformed. I work at a game store and new 360s come back defective just as often as old ones. Literally at least one, if not 3-5 360s come in all red-ringed everyday. Its sad to watch people keep buying them over and over and over.

All of those games Nickfil listed are also on ps3, save mass effect and the xbox marketplace games. Oh, and orange box is apparently subpar but everything else on the ps3 listed there is gravy.

If you're into RPGs, I recommend Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, and Eternal Sonata.

Also, The PS3 Slim is still just a rumor. It could just be a huge hoax. I'm not saying it isn't real, but since we heard nothing about it officially, I have some serious doubts.

Well, programming for the X360 is like programming for the PC. Thus, you are going to see a lot of the same genres that are on PC on the X360 - genres like RTS (Command & Conquer), Western RPG (Mass Effect), and - of course - FPS (Halo 3).

If you don't care for any of those types of games, all you really have left to look at are Square Enix. If you love Square Enix, and would prefer your games on a big screen as opposed to a portable one, then the X360 is the way to go. I think it is pretty damn safe to assume that Square Enix is exclusively supporting X360 when it comes to console games.

You heard it here first, folks. Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers? Vaporware. I heard more about Duke Nukem Forever while it was in development than either of these two games. Square Enix is just hoping people will forget about them so that they don't have to actually say that they're canceled.

(Am I joking? I don't even know anymore...)
