Five years ago I could have never predicted that such insipid games would even exist.

Re: The year of Wii Shovelware
Sadly, it's really just business as usual for the Wii.
Re: The year of Wii Shovelware
Question is, do people really buy this crap?
Re: The year of Wii Shovelware
I wonder too if people actually buy this kind of stuff
and do companies like best buy profit in sales?
I am aware of the grandma or daddy who looks at a nice looking game and buys it for his kid, but how many of those people do exist?
Real Heroes : Firefighters graphics looks psx-ish , I bet some ps1/N64 graphics beat this game. How low can you go?

Re: The year of Wii Shovelware
If they didn't sell, companies wouldn't continue releasing them. The Wii has marketed itself as the "casual gamer console" for people who aren't usually gamers, and so the gaming library for the console reflects that. The ratio of quality software versus shovelware is hilariously awful.
In the end though, the industry is here to profit, and shovelware is very profitable. The iPhone gaming library is very similar in this regard.
