I was thinking about breaking my rule about buying a downloadable game, and getting Wipeout HD. Everyone on racketboy spoke very highly of it and was going to get it this weekend.......Well until I saw this bullshit move Sony pulled. http://gizmodo.com/5329168/scummy-wipeo ... n-gameplay Ads in games you didn't pay for are one thing, but ads that slow the game down you paided good money for is downright shameful. Yet one more reason I like my console offline and simple to use. This console generation sucks if you ask me, what a let down. I had way more fun on my PS2, not to mention it had a lot more of games that were risky, innovative and creative. I just have more fun playing my PS2 than all of my other current gen consoles, what a waste of money. I may be selling my 360 and PS3 60GB in the near future due to utter disappointment.

Fuck Sony and the mainstream bitches. Ads in games beyond that of GTA's Foca Cola etc.. styly should not be allowed, especially if you've already paid for it and they forcefully and I'm betting illegally shove it down your throat in an update.

It's really a shame we are heading in that direction. The video game industry needs to take after the music industry and give customers 100% complete control over the media they download. With music, you are free to burn it to a CD and store it, share it with friends, take it to someone else's house and play it there. If the music artist or record label abandons their business, your copy of the music will still be good.

I have never paid for a single download game or DLC and unless they change things, I don't think I ever will. Here is a list of what they need to do if they want my money for downloads:

- Able to copy to hard media formats like DVD, SD card, hard drive, etc.
- Able to run the game from other consoles easily.
- Unless the game/DLC is free, there should be no advertisements.
- Prices should be noticeably cheaper since there is no cost of manufacturing disks or manuals and no retail store to lessen profits.
- Able to acquire and play even after the company abandons the product.

Another possible solution to this would be to have two versions available. The physical media version and the download version. That way, everyone wins.

Bottom line, it's up to us, the consumers to make sure the game industry improves. Personally, I think the current generation of games is the worst one yet. Unless we get smarter and make better decisions when it comes to spending money, things will only continue to get worse.

You can do all of the above. However the record companies sure as hell don't want you to do it. All of what you said above breaches copyright, if the music has DRM and you copy it outside of the fair use applied (IE burning it to an audio disc more than once or just simply removing the DRM) to it then you are breaching the DMCA as well.

Ads are ok if there's an option for the non-ads version. Let's say that a DLC game costs $10 but if you get the ads version, it's free or $1. That would be acceptable in my opinion.
