And YES, it stars THE Taryn Manning, from such films as "Hustle and Flow", "8 Mile" and "Cold Mountain". She's also one-half of Boomkat, the electronic pop duo which also features her brother Kellin.
Also have one of my fave actors, Christian Campbell, as Larch. And he's related to Neve Campbell, and AFAIK, not Bruce. He's also the reason I saw this (I've got another film of his, Ibid, on my Netflix queue).
I also started "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", but I dozed off. But in my defense, when I get into a movie at night, I tend to doze off. Even if I am into the movie.
By IMDb user fgunther of Brooklyn, NY.A kick-ass professional car thief, Sage, (Taryn Manning), steals a classic '66 Charger on a challenge. It turns out the car belongs to a serial killer (is there another kind?), who proceeds to slice and dice her friends because he wants his car back, and wants Sage dead. Sage also deals with treacherous fellow criminals, and a cop who wants her in jail, or wants into her pants (he hasn't decided yet).

The Island. I knew better going in as it is a Michael Bay flick. The disappointing part is that the first hour is actually pretty good. Too bad it goes down hill real fast. What a piece of crap film. I understand that the story was stolen from an older film so maybe I should just watch that as it probably sticks to story and doesnt have half hour long shitty action sequences.

Yeah, there's only one reason to watch that movie. It stars the greatest actor ever in a supporting role.Octopod wrote:The Island. I knew better going in as it is a Michael Bay flick. Steve Buscemi
In the meantime, I've watched Krull, Slaughterhouse Five, Assault on Precinct 13, Bullitt, and Hang 'Em High. I'll try to keep this short.
Krull was pretty typical fantasy fare, from the boom of sword and sorcery films from the 80s. It's not the best, but it's better than most, and had a supporting role from Liam Neeson.
Slaughterhouse Five was based on the Kurt Vonnegut book. I didn't care for the first half, but the second was much better. Apparently there's a lot of material from the book it didn't pull over. I couldn't say, as I haven't read it.
Assault on Precinct 13 was basically Night of the Living Dead with gang members. I liked it a lot, and I enjoy John Carpenter's earlier films. I've got Dark Star sitting at home right now, actually...
Bullitt as really good, and that chase scene really is worth checking out, especially when one of the cars takes out a camera. There's only one thing that I didn't really care for: the girlfriend character's monologue just seemed out of place. I'm eagerly awaiting what dsheinem has to say about it, since I know he plans on watching it soon.
Hang 'Em High was good too. It's a nice examination of Wild West justice, and I like that it's left a bit open in the end as to what happens, though part of me wishes to hear the rest of the story arc. Oh well, good film, definitely worth it for folks who like Westerns.

Buscemi is great - but still I like that film overall. Bay's best, I think.Ack wrote:

I've watched it and the review will come when I have a few more films logged. In short: I liked it but not as much as I thought I would.Bullitt as really good, and that chase scene really is worth checking out, especially when one of the cars takes out a camera. Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Cool, I look forward to it.
And I watched two more films today.
Cliffhanger was...well, it's an action film all right, with lots of Stallone action. Some of the mountain climbing you see in this movie was impressive, but then again, so are some of the mistakes made during the film. No matter how I look at it, I found this to be a pretty bad film, but in a good way. Take the airplane crash, where it apparently comes halfway off a cliff, and then in the next shot they're nowhere near the edge. Or the guys who go cliff diving, and in the next shot have obviously jumped from a plane. While it's not nearly as outrageous as some of Stallone's other action films(I love Demolition Man), it was still an enjoyable romp for me.
Dark Star is John Carpenter's first film. It was a cheap parody of 2001: A Space Odyssey, with a mixture of good humor, strange philosophy(the argument to keep a "smart bomb" from detonating was great, and some obvious horror elements that would stay with Carpenter for the rest of his career. It's a strangely beautiful film, considering how obviously low budget it is(and how poor the DVD transfer was). Plus, it has an alien made out of a beach ball. Seriously.

Once Upon A Time In The West
A film lasting almost 3 hours with about 20 pages of dialouge. And its all amazing. Serigo Leone is truly a master of cinema.
