Good video games to play with mom?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Good video games to play with mom?

Post by LCDSCREEN »

So, my mom offered to play some games with me the other day. She hasn't really played anything except some Pac-man back in the 80's and this one word game on Facebook that she plays constantly. I figured we would play something simple and non-violent, so we tried Kirby's Avalanche, which she picked up fairly quickly. I mean, she does hop around like a five year old whenever she makes a match, and she screams at the screen if things don't go her way, but it was really a lot of fun. We also played some Arkanoid today, it took her awhile to realize that she controls the paddle and not the ball, but once she got that down it was great.

I'm trying to think of some more games we could try out. Nothing for the Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360, or PS2 since I only have one controller for those, but anything sort of retro is fine. Like I said before, something simple and non-violent, maybe something we could play co-op. Suggestions?

The games my mom likes are

Ladybug (Colecovision)
Mine Sweeper (PC)
and Guitar Hero I & II (PS2)

She doesn't care for much else.

What systems are you looking for your Mom to play?
Off the top of my head:

For NES. she might like:

Anticipation
Tetris
Super Mario Bros. 3
Dr. Mario
Remote Control
Jeopardy/Wheel of Fortune (the web games are way superior though)
Paperboy
Yoshi's Cookie
Track and Field

Genesis:
Columns
Toe Jam and Earl (great for getting someone into gaming)
Wimbledon
NBA Jam (extremely simple)

Bubble bobble and bust-a-move might work as well.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! It doesn't really matter which system, though I guess NES, SNES, and Genesis would be preffered since the controllers are fairly simple.
I think we might try out Decathlete on the Saturn later. Mostly just button mashing, so that could be kind of fun. :P
