Second Sight
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness
Nanobreaker

I've at least beaten all of these, though I haven't completed all of them. The fighters I've put in various amounts of time, in some just enough to beat the final boss, in others...well, I play a lot of World Heroes.
Did you like Second Sight? I enjoyed that one a lot. How are Nanobreaker and Curse of Darkness? I beat lament of Innocence recently and liked it a lot and am looking for curse of darkess if it's similar. And what about Nanobreaker. I'm always tempted to buy it but from the videos I've watched and the ten minutes I can play while it works on my hdd were kind of meh. It looks like excessively gory fun though.

Yeah, I actually really liked Second Sight. It was kind of easy on the normal setting, so I'll have to go back and play through it again on hard, but it made for an enjoyable romp. Quite good, considering I only spent $3 on it.

Curse of Darkness...it's got some similarities to Lament of Innocence, but instead of whips you'll be using melee weapons of various types, you bring a pet with you, and you have to synthesize new equipment from items you get from monsters. It's pretty long, and there's a lot of replay to try out new pets and various game modes. The unlockables are pretty interesting, and there's a weird thing about chairs in the game. The plot is...well, a good bit of it's pretty stupid, and the voice acting is garbage, but I do believe it had one of the best incarnations of Death of the series. I liked it, and it's going for pretty cheap, usually a little over $10 whenever I see it. I paid $12, I believe. I thought it was worth it.

Nanobreaker...I both love and hate this game. I love it because yes, it is blatantly gory. In fact, that's kinda the point. Instead of experience, you get stronger based on the number of gallons of blood spilled. There's some variance in fighting, and a pretty interesting combo system that allows you to change skills on the fly for almost whatever you need. Combat's repetitive, but it generally is for all these kinds of games. It's also got some decent replayability, and there are some cool fights. The problem is, there are also some amazingly bad fights, aggravating baby-sitting sections, and a horrid camera. The controls are also responsive, but way too complicated, and some of the bosses are uber cheap. Save points are often put in poor locations, and the healing system really sucks. It's like the game wants you to have to continue, so it can mock you. Repeatedly. And the story is so bad, I actually felt embarrassed while playing. But hey, for $5, I wasn't exactly expecting solid gold here.

I agree with that. Another related game is Psi-Ops. Both of these games give you various psychic super powers: telekinesis, teleportation, astral projection, etc. I always see both of these games on sale for only 2 or 3 dollars (usually as part of buy 3 for 10, or buy 2 for 5 special at Game Crazy). They are both actually pretty decent games. Half Life 2 always gets a lot of accolades for the gravity gun, but the telekinesis powers in both Second Life and Psi Ops were really similar and all of these games came out around the same time, I think one of them even came out before Half Life 2. Half Life 2 is still the better all around game, but these games are definitely worth pulling out of the bargain bin.

Psi ops is one of my favourite games. Me and a friend actually had a blast playign the odd co op mode. I didn't really care for the story or any of the characters but I spent hours replaying levels and trying to find creative ways to kill people. The training room alone is stupid fun trying to find new ways to use your powers.

This Year? Wow. That's a long list for me, really long. If I'm traveling on a plane on business, I usually beat at least three games on my GBA just during travel alnoe, and I've done that several times this year. Instead of an entire list, I'll just point out a few accomplishments this year. All of these were done with no cheats/codes/shenanigans:

Beat BLASTER MASTER
Got to the end of the 5th level of TMNT (NES)
Completed TMNT TURTLES IN TIME
Got to the 4th level of BATTLETOADS
Beat NINJA GAIDEN without a continue >30 minutes (completed entire trilogy as well)
Cruised through INCREDIBLE HULK PS2
Completed another season of NHL 2002, the best hockey game yet
Unlocked everything in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (ps2)
Beat DONKEY KONG COUNTRY, BIONIC COMMANDO, GOLDEN AXE, A LINK TO THE PAST, DOUBLE DRAGON, MADDEN 2006, ECCO THE DOLPHIN, METROID PRIME, METROID FUSION, GHOSTS AND GOBLINS, DOOM, F-ZERO LEGEND, CASTLEVANIA, etc. (gba)
Defeated CONTRA, no continues. I swear I could beat the game with one life if it weren't for that ass-hat boss who throws spiked hockey pucks and jumps like he forgot his meds.
SONIC, SONIC 2, all gems collected.
Beat JACKAL (NES), no continues
Got to 4th stage of TOP GUN (NES). Saying it took a lot of patience would be an understatement.
Beat DUCK TALES (NES)
Beat STARFOX and STARFOX 64
Crushed ALTERED BEAST on the mastersystem. It's much more fun to laugh at than the Genesis version.
Got the Stanley Cup in NHL '94 on the Sega CD

That's all that comes to mind.

That brings up a question. If you use continues do you consider a game beat? I certainly dont but I guess that is for each person to decide for themselves. I guess it comes from playing shmups. In my mind only a 1cc counts as a completion and this is how I look at all arcade style games.

You can use continues and still beat a game, just as you can add quarters to an arcade game and still beat it.
Mastering a game is different. I feel like I've always mastered NINJA GAIDEN, but just recently mastered MASTER BLASTER. "Mastered master Blaster", that shit sounds funny.
