Grand Slam Tennis Rules

Post by Curlypaul »

Ok, so i've been playing the hell out of Grand Slam Tennis lately, which is the first sports game I've bought since my MegaDrive was new.

I cant help but notice that the American rules are different to the rest of worlds - mainly the tie break situation. Seems to be the first to seven point and the servers keep swapping.. would anyone care to explain to me what is going on?

This is a great game although it is damned tough to get into. After hours of play I was about to give up on ever winning a match and then I jsut found my step. To start with it seemed like the controls were twitchy, inaccurate and broken. Turns out it was me that was all those things

Yes, we switch sides after the 1st point and then every 6 points in a tie breaker. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis_score

What is the rule that you're used to?

In the last set of the match, if all is equal then you keep playing games as normal until one of the players is 2 games in front. This can mean that some sets can last for 20+ games and I think provides a massive amount of tension. It normally boils down to who can win the first break point to get ahead.

Thanks for the link :)

How can I practise Tennis without going to a court and on your own? I want to get good at tennis but all my friends are on hoilday and the court is far away.
