To any members living in Tokyo

Post by Anubis »

I know this is kind of random, but I'm considering making a trip to Japan in early August. I'm looking to spend about two weeks and see what I can.

I was wondering if anyone would happen to have a couch to crash on for a few days. I want to make it out to the base of Mt. Fuji and take a trip around the 12th. There is a cool guy I've found on couchsurfing.com that runs trips up the mountain and hosts people at his house. It seems like a really fun time. Anyways, I'm not looking for a guide, just place to sleep.

I'd never heard of Couch Surfers, but I must say that the idea rocks.

The site is awesome. It's also very professional, and everyone who hosts people is usually verified and has reviews from people who have stayed with them.

Check it out, it seems like it would make traveling much cheaper.

Be prepared for really hot weather in Tokyo when you go. If you climb Fuji on a very hot clear day in Tokyo it is very amazing. Traveling into the 5 Lakes (Fuji) area by highway bus or train is easy. Once you get out there it will be cooler possibly alot cooler depending on the weather. Be prepared for being off the beaten path just a little bit for the first time. Depending on where you go it will be harder to use services without speaking japanese. Be very

My climb was the easiest ever. At the summit around 4AM the temperature was about 50F. All night the stars above and a clear view out towards Yokohama and the light pollution of Tokyo. Super sweet :) Not the norm as climbing Fuji can be horrible I've heard.
