okay, I got some money and am in the proscess of collecting a rheem of Saturn accesories. So far I've gotten a boxed american 3D Pad and a boxed JAP light gun (which is the best since it's black, not idiotic light blue or orange). I want to get an arcade stick atm and was wondering which one is better, the ASCII stick or the Virtua stick.
Also, since there seems to be a lot of boxed saturn accesories on eBay as of late for damn cheap, I'd get some if I were you guys!
Saturn Arcade sticks
Re: Saturn Arcade sticks
The ASCII stick is interesting...
It has some awesome qualities. It is built like a TANK, which is good because the weight gives it stability and feels more like a true arcade maching. The buttons are great and the joystick has the tall shape like a SFII or Tekken machine, not the pacman style circle.
The only reason this isn't the perfect arcade stick is that the joystick clicks when you make a directional movement. Some get used to this and others always hate it. I sold mine on Ebay about 4 years ago in original box for about $30 and have regretted letting it go.

I'll post the link in a few.
I guess I'll just go with the virtua stick, since it is cheaper...

I didn't mind the US Virtua Stick. Not real beefy, but it got the job done and was comfortable and stylish

OK, for the record, I like the idea of a stick better than the actual use. I'm much better with a pad, and I never really use my sticks. The 3 types that I have experience with (not counting the NES Advantage) are the Sega Virtua Stick, The Virua Stick "Pro" and the Hori Fighting Stick SS.
Virtua Stick is the really common Sega branded one that you should never pay too much for. It is a good sturdy stick, but nothing special. US models are black JAP models are Grey. Stick action is more rubbery than the other ones, which are sharp and clicky - this isn't as bad as it sounds, and I kinda like the quietness of it.
The Virtua Stick "Pro" (HSS-0136) is a lot more epensive and heavier. Japanese release only. It has a microswitched stick and seems like it is built out of real arcade parts. Big and heavy with a steel base. Easily the coolest looking one. Looks like half of that obnoxious 2-Player jobby that shows up on ebay for $300 every now and then.
The Hori Fighting Stick SS is my persoanl favorite, whatever that's worth. Also microswitched, and claims to be made from real arcade parts. A much lighter feel than the Sega sticks, the stick is much easier to move. This stick showed me that Sega aren't the only ones who know how to make a really great controller.
Sorry I can't give you more idea of how these controllers perform. I like having them, but not really using them. I can tell you for sure that they are all very well built, and I doubt that any of them would affect your performance significantly over the others. My advice is start with the cheap Sega branded virtua stick since it is easy to find and cheap. I you just gotta have that genuine arcade feel, then either of the other 2 will serve nicely. All 3 have the ball-top joysticks, but I think you can actuallly swap the Hori and Pro sticks with your chouce of sticks if you are serious about it.
As for Ascii and Eclipse, I have seen them make crappy controllers, so I never even gave their arcade sticks a try. That could very well be my loss.
