We wish you could have stayed: unfortunately cancelled games

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

How about some content from said games?

I'll Start:

Soundtrack to Castlevania Resurrection:
http://www.4shared.com/file/79337945/89 ... n_OST.html
Password: www.castlevaniaspace.tk
There's still 3 songs from that on my playlist even now.
The alpha vids suck - Really they didn't do the developers justice from interviews I read. No links cause they actually had it better when it got cancelled. Also Castlevania in 3rd person is crappy no matter how much anyone tries (prove me wrong!). 2DIsBetter!

SonicXtreme Sprites (reply for orig/better<?>)
(have some original spritesheets but can't access them atm)
http://sost.emulationzone.org/sonic_xtr ... /index.htm
Vids (I had some different/better(?) quality ones but can't access them atm)
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... nic+xtreme

Starfox 2 would've been great, but I had a blast with the leaked version.
Still, just a early beta. Wish that guy had done a bit more with the unofficial GBA port - would've been awesome:
http://www.gameboy-advance-roms.info/do ... _pd700.htm
> StarFox 3d-Engine Demo (PD)

I'd still love to see a new official X-COM game in the spirit of the original. As soon as Apocalypse came out I never enjoyed the official games by them untill Rebelstar: Tactical Command for GBA.
(unofficial) UFO Extraterrestrials actually did a pretty good job.
http://www.ufo-extraterrestrials.com/
If you like UFO1 battle scenes, there's a multiplayer engine:
http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net/
If you have a smartphone/ARM based PDA/PC computer
http://www.smksoftware.ru/pufo.shtml
Actually If you can get Laser Squad going in dosbox it's pretty fun too.

Totally agree about the Megaman collection for GBA. I remember screens - Link/source?

There's more I could post if I was at home and not drunk - Can anyone come up with some more media for the others I don't know anything about? screens/vids/etc.

^Anapan, how is UFO: Extraterrestrials? I have read it's a flawed game but mods make it awesome and a worthwhile X-COM sequel.

I was going to say Dukey Forever.

But then I realised: Nobody really cares.

The problem for me is more the games that don't get translated or ported over to the States more than the ones that never got made. There are also the ones that I had been excited for on one system, but got ported to another system instead of the one I owned/favored.

Super Fantasy Zone (Genesis)
Rent-A-Hero (Genesis)
Alien Soldier (Genesis)
Star Ocean (Super Nintendo)
SegaSonic the Hedgehog (Sega CD)
Policenauts (Sega CD)
Princess Crown (Saturn)
Far East of Eden (Saturn)
Devil Summoner Series (Saturn)
Sakura Taisen Series (Saturn)
Breath of Fire III (Saturn)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Saturn)
Dragon Quest VII (Saturn)
Nanatsu Kaze No Shima Monetegari (Saturn)
Metal Gear Solid (Saturn)
Terra Phantastica (Saturn)
Grandia (Saturn)
Virtua Fighter 3 (Saturn)
Shining Force Scen. 2/3 (Saturn)
Radiant Silvergun (Saturn)
Daytona USA 2 (Dreamcast)
Black & White (Dreamcast)
Baldur's Gate (Dreamcast)
Half-Life (Dreamcast)
House of the Dead III (Dreamcast)
Virtua Fighter 4 (Dreamcast)
Super Monkey Ball (Dreamcast)
Jet Set Radio Future (Dreamcast)
GunValkyrie (Dreamcast)
Space Channel 5: Part 2 (Dreamcast)
System Shock 2 (Dreamcast)
Rent-A-Hero Ep. 1 (Dreamcast)
Segagaga (Dreamcast)

Alot of those don't hurt so much because I got to play them on other systems, but still... I'm a Sega fanboy, so what can I do? Most of the untranslated ones bother me a ton, though, because they simply should've been translated for the American market. I mean, at least put out limited, profitable runs, jeez! The worst ones are the ones that were completely cancelled, though:

Sonic X-Treme (Saturn)
Air Nights (Saturn)
Shenmue III (Dreamcast/Anything Else)

Admittedly I didn't play it for very long, as I got called out to a job just as I was getting in to it. What I did play of it was good. The gameplay was near identical to the first game, and the few things wrong with it weren't so bad that they ruined the experience. It did seem quite difficult at the beginning, and the aliens were not quite what I was hoping for but their AI seemed really well developed. I didn't even know there were mods for it, but it looks very moddable. If the fanbase has worked on it for awhile then I'll definitely have to fire it up again (I needed some HD space so it got bumped off).

I agree 100%. I played through 1 & 2 and LOVED them. It is a shame that we will probably never get to continue the adventure. =(
