What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

No, "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is the best sci-fi film of the '50s. It's an exquisite film that serves as a parable for the Cold War.

And the best B-horror/sci-fi films of that era is "The Blob", "It Came from Outer Space", "Carnival of Souls", and "Godzilla".

Now, I've only seen the remake and if the original is only half as good (which it isn't cuz it's logically twice as good) as John Carpenter's version, then it's a great film.

And I recently bought a few more VHS tapes from Hotline, while they were doing a BOGO sale w/ their VHS tapes: Lord of Illusions (replaces the one in storage that I can't get to), Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Hobbit, and Cat's Eye.

And a used copy of "The Jacket" from Village Video.

And I've gone back to Netflix and has a queue of almost 300 DVDs. The first three are:

* RENT: Filmed Live on Broadway
* Sisters (the original De Palma film)
* Laid to Rest

And other films on my list include some Miike films and some other rarities. Basically, if it doesn't come on TV all the time and if I don't see it at Village Video, then I'll put it on there.

I see you missed the point of the "one of the best" part. I enjoyed it more than the original Blob movie, if that tells you anything.

* RENT: Filmed Live on Broadway - Amazing and powerful

* Laid to Rest - Awesome DTV horror film

* Sisters - De Palma at his best, though a bit in the ether

Not in the same league at the first (which I seriously love). This one is more misanthropic, goofier, and not nearly as tight and together. Also, I thought the ending was pretty bad, though the first hour did have a lot of laughs. Also, while the first film actually had a lot going on thematically, this one appears, at least on first viewing, to have no real subtext.
Completely true.

Animal House

Oddly enough, I didn't enjoy it all that much. Everything was either predictable or too reliant on gross-out humor. I suppose this is because their are so many homages to this movie in others that seeing the original skit wasn't funny. And seeing as this movie defined gross-out humor, I'm desensitized to it.

I just caught Total Recall on SciFi for the first time in years, and I'm pleased to say that movie still kicks ass.

Edit: Oh, and the Johnny Cab robots still creep me out.

Do you see that long metal thing on the table? Just shove it up your nose real hard until you hear a crunch....then pull.

Ninja Scroll. Cool anime movie. Didn't really care about the characters, but there was some great action in there.
