Well we're down to the last few hours. Most of my local stations will cease broadcasting by around 2 AM with the rest to shutdown at or around the mandated time of 3 PM.

So, what are you guys going to watch as your last analog programs?

HoboJoe wrote:I'm probably gonna cry when analog is over.....cause we have a ton of analog TV's in my house. Last year we still used the antenna on top of our house (it fell down this year....I need to fix that), but we got basic cable when we got high speed internet and we've already lost channels on basic cable cause of the digital switch.....so much for not needing to worry about it if your on cable. And I don't feel like getting cable boxes for all our TVs (we have like 6 hooked up.....it's comlpetely unnecessary =P ). So I'm basically going to have my TV on constantly from here til the 12th.....goodbye good ol' analog TV.

your screen name is HoboJoe, but you've got 6 tv's? :)

How bad do you guys think the lines for converter boxes will be at Wal-Mart, etc... tomorrow for all the people who heard but ignored all the shutdown warnings?

I kind of wish I could stay up late and watch all my channels die one by one, but I wouldn't make it through the workday :(

I feel ya there. We just recently moved to a new house and when we connected our TVs (which have a built-in digital tuner, whatever you call it) and we got access to the premium channels, including HD, because our cable provider accidently forgot to encrypt the channels after the previous owners moved out. After a couple months, they were gone and we called Charter to find out what happened and they told us we had to buy boxes for each TV for access, we got like 5 TVs. We ended up getting one for the living room because my dad was hooked to Discovery and The History Channel in HD. I don't see the point paying for boxes if the TV already has the built in tuner, but cable companies need to pad their bottom lines somehow I guess....
I don't know if charter does cable cards or not, I know comcast loans one free and additional ones are dirt cheap compaired to HD recievers, but you can't use "on demand." There are slots on some HDTV's, and i believe all tivos, for cable cards- PCMCIA looking cards that decrypt the different tiers of digital channels.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
