It was a BBC sci-fi comedy show, several crew members kinda going crazy in space- very different from the usual shows I ever saw at the time.

i think this clip works well as an example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ofl_UP3 ... re=related

I watch analog TV every day, it's simply what most people use in this country. I realize in the U.S. most people have cable, but it's not as widespread over here. Also, I don't have to tune anything, as we here in my building (most places, actually) use external antennas that is always tuned in a good spot. The image is always clear in every channel (which are eight).

You guys make it sound so archaic, but it is actually very functional. Analog signals are going to be around for a long time here, so I don't have to worry about messing with 80s technology :)

I'm probably gonna cry when analog is over.....cause we have a ton of analog TV's in my house. Last year we still used the antenna on top of our house (it fell down this year....I need to fix that), but we got basic cable when we got high speed internet and we've already lost channels on basic cable cause of the digital switch.....so much for not needing to worry about it if your on cable. And I don't feel like getting cable boxes for all our TVs (we have like 6 hooked up.....it's comlpetely unnecessary =P ). So I'm basically going to have my TV on constantly from here til the 12th.....goodbye good ol' analog TV.
Somebody sell me a model 1 modchip for Saturn. Please.

Wait a minute, I haven't lost any channels on the basic cable package we've had for years (Time Warner) are you sure they didn't just add a few new channels while removing one or two and shuffling around channel locations like the cable companies usually do from time to time?

Also getting converter boxes for TV's hooked up to cable is useless as all household cable broadcasts are in Analog except for simultaneous broadcasts of local channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX etc...) in both HD and SD.

I will be honest, while I like older technology, this one technology that is inferior to cable in every way.
We are not missing on anything, while channels can be clear on analogue it is very simply that cable and receivers are better with more channels.

Actually, I was amazed that regular antenna is still used to broadcast some of the more famous channels.

I will sure miss those days where you search for channels and get a partial picture. Watching anything with a percentage of distortion always has its enjoyable memories later on. I recall getting excited catching a signal of a far away channel(other country) and watching what they put on tv over there.

Why did America decided to stop this kind of broadcast?

Cool, my Watchman's the same except it has more rounded edges a slightly larger screen and an all black case with a grey Watchman logo.

I also plan on following up the shutdown by watching one of my favorite Analog only movies Royal Space Force: The Wings Of Honneamise on Blu-Ray, as a nod to the future. (Which chronicles the story of the fictional Royal Space Force a group of wannabe astronauts who eventually send the first man into space after years of unsuccessful attempts and huge budget cuts.)

To free up Analog broadcast channels for emergency personnel, government agencies, and private investors such as supposed plans for free ad-supported nationwide Wi-Fi.
