Hi There,
Recently, i got my hands on a Sega MegaCD (UK PAL model 1) and i would like to play Final Fight on the system.
So, i've downloaded a zipped rom file (UK PAL) with an ISO and MP3 files.
When i burn the ISO to a CD in Nero, the game plays fine, but without the background music (FX play normal).
This is normal because the Mega CD-system doesn't understand MP3's. So i've converted the supplied MP3's to CD standard wav-files. Leaving the original filename intact. When i insert the burned disc into the tray, the system goes straight into the audiomode allowing me to play the wav files as the Mega CD recognises the CD as a audio CD.
Tried again with the SegaCuemaker program but, alas, same result.
Anyone knows a workaround?
Thanks in advance!

Burning Mega CD Roms
Re: Burning Mega CD Roms
One tip I can offer is that, before burning a CD load up the image as a virtual CD (e.g. with Daemon Tools) and check if the sound is ok on an emulator (e.g. KEGA Fusion - you can check a tutorial on this site if you have trouble).
CDs are not that expensive, but saves you some time and a wasted CD is a wasted CD.
As for the real problem, I don't know... If you already converted the music files and made an appropriate cue sheet, it should work.

Re: Burning Mega CD Roms
You need to burn the .cue file NOT the .iso The .iso the basically just the gameplay and not the "cd audio" tracks.
Most Mega/Sega Cd games you will find on the internet already have the .cue file.
If your file doesn't have a cue....

Re: Burning Mega CD Roms
yep, checked the roms with genecyst before i burned it and the rom works fine on an emulator, with the mp3 files untouched.
I forgot to mention i burned the cue-sheet instead of the iso. The cue-sheet hold the iso plus the wav-music.
... unfortunately. The used mp3 files have the same name as the iso-file.
Strange indeed....

Alright...I'm bored at work so maybe I can actually do something productive for somebody.
Where did you download the image from? If I have that and you can PM me a copy of your cue sheet or something, maybe it'll make more sense. (Maybe not...worth a shot though.)

Re: Burning Mega CD Roms
Did you change the music file names on the cue sheet? Have to change them from mp3 to wav in the actual .cue document. Also if it goes straight to the music player, there is somewhere you can click where it says "load cd rom" or "start cd rom" or something to that effect. Sometime games go to that screen on my systems, I click that, and the game starts right up. Occasionally that happens for burned games as well as official.

Re: Burning Mega CD Roms
Some one was having trouble burning Saturn ISO/mp3 a week ago and I typed up a short guide for him, it's the same thing for Sega CD as well, so here ya go:
First of all, download a virtual drive if you don't already have one. Daemon makes a free version. After you download a game, mount the image and try to play it in an emulator (make sure you know if the emulator you are using supports the game your trying to play) to make sure the image is good. I've made a lot of coasters before finding out that the image was bad, now I always do this.
Download these programs if you don't already have them:
Daemon Tools (unless you already have a similar program)
Sega Cue Maker Works for Sega CD and Saturn
Sega Region Patcher (Scroll down to first screen shot, download link is right above it)
Switch Sound File Converter (unless you already have a similar program)
ImgBurn - A free burner that I like to use a lot. You don't have to use it, I just like it.
You're games should download to a winrar, winzip, or 7z file. Extract them all into a new folder. If it turns out to be BIN/CUE, just burn the cue. If it extracts to ISO/mp3 follow these steps:
1) Open Saturn Region Patcher and locate the ISO. When you load the file into the program it will show you which region the game is in, so you might want to do this for every game just to make sure. If it's a different region, change it. Takes two seconds.
2)Delete the cue, we'll be making a new one.
3)Convert all the mp3 files (or any other file type that isn't wav) to wav using the program mentioned above. When you launch Switch, click on the green plus symbol maked "Add File(s)" and browse to the folder. Select ALL the mp3 files, make sure you have them all. After they load into the program, look at the bottom left of the window. Where it says "Output Format" there's a drop down menu right next to it, select .wav and then click on "Encoder Options" that are right next to the drop down menu. A window will open up with two more drop down menus. Leave the top alone, but make sure to change the bottom to something stereo. I set mine to 44100 Hz, 16 Bits, Stereo and games work fine. I'm not sure if you can go higher on the Hz or Bits or not (maybe the Saturn can't handle it) so maybe some one can clue me in.
After that, just click the convert button in the bottom right and wait until it finished.
4) Go into the folder and delete all the mp3's.
5) I'm not sure if this is needed or not, but its what I do. I make sure, what ever the ISO is named, that it ends with 01.iso and then all the audio files should end 02.wav, 03.wav and so on.
6) Launch Sega Cue Maker. Locate the game folder then click the generate cue button. Takes a split second. Then click save cue, make sure to save it in the same folder, name it the name of the game.
7)Burn the cue, be done. I burn my games at 8x, some times you'll run into problems if you burn faster than that. But I also burn EVERYTHING fairly slow.
Did I miss anything?
edit: The .ccd, .img. and .sub files are a Clone CD image. Not sure if Nero can burn this type of image (IMG Burn can't) but if it can't, just mount it in your virtual drive and then rip it to BIN/CUE then burn the cue.

Wow, thanks for the comments.
I'll go step-by-step on thos last post but in the meantime i'll post a screenshot a zip with a screenshot and the cue file...

Re: Burning Mega CD Roms
I've always hated the whole compressed audio with Sega CD downloads. As a result, all the burned Sega CD games I have made are music-less. I'd much rather wait however long more for a download then try to convert shit and mess with files.

Yeah... you're right. Where do you download those uncompressed ones?
