That's what I'm telling you. I have no sympathy for idiots who hurt themselves or ruin/end their lives. I only laugh. I just expect it to be on video.slag wrote:so your telling me you never tried to do anything crazy when you where around 16?

I think what risk-takers are seeking is the adrenaline, endorphin, and other internal drug-goodies. Is it really about testosterone? Maybe, dont know for sure.slag wrote:so your telling me you never tried to do anything crazy when you where around 16?Mozgus wrote:You've got issues, buddy. Duke Nukem is a fucking joke of a man. That's why we love him. None of us look up to the Duke, or want to be like him. He's a comedic character.slag wrote:[OPINION]
One of the reasons why most guys don’t complain about characters like Duke Nukem is because of how our minds work. At some point in almost every guys life, that guy has done something that seems to have been driven solely by testosterone. Jumping off of a cliff. Driving your car over 100 miles per hour. Getting into a fight. We do things like those to test ourselves, to find our limits. Some times we do things to pass those limits and feel like some kind of demi-god if only for a moment.
Characters like Duke take that to an extreme. Well we think about jumping 100 ft. cliffs or fighting one other person, the Duke jumps a 10,000 ft cliff well fighting a whole army of crazy mutants on the way down. He is just more of a part of something we already are. Something that isn’t even necessarily tried to sex.
If you’re a guy and don’t believe me go watch the movie 300 and afterword tell me that for just the slightest moment you didn’t want to yell “This is SPARTA” and kick some guy down a well.

I can't say anything about 300 as I never bothered to watch it. The trailers and video memes were enough.
Me, I have repelled off of a cliff. I have been in a car that hit 100. I have done some crazy stuff(and chickened out on some other stuff). Its something I assumed all guys did. Yes I realize that Duke is a comic characer because of his extreme nature. Nobody really wants to attempt to do those crazy things, but we like to think that maybe, just maybe, we could pull off something almost as cool/heroic/crazy. I don't think anybody picked up the Duke Nukem games solely for comedic value. Or the Halo games. Or Gears of War. We pick up those games because some part of us wants to be the gun toting man who saves the world even if its only in our minds.
and I totally believe that he didn't do anything remotely risky growing up, or maybe ever... why don't you?
