there is a homebrew game (cant rember the name) but i think its just a neogeo4all game (basically emulation of neogeo cd on the dreamcast). its a shame tho i would of loved to see an offical megaman game on the system even if it would be just a port.

I think that if you wanna get your platforming kicks you may have to look deeper into Sega's past, to the glory days! I had actually never thought about the lack of 2D platformers on DC, my morning is ruined now..

I don't know anyone who has actually played Napple Tale, but I have always wanted to see if it was worthwhile. I was disappointed to find no US 2d platformers for DC, too.

Anyone enjoy it?

I'd say in the Dreamcast era 2D platformers were totally out of fashion.

It's only now with the success of Virtual Console and stuff like Mega Man 9 that 2D platformers are starting to get the respect they deserve back.

Back in '99 I think everyone was just so hyped up for 3D.

Hrm, if Kanno did the soundtrack it's probably awesome. I've been displeased with very little of her work.

Really? I always thought BoR and the many mods following were kind of lackluster. I'd rather play the old genesis games anyday. The whole KoF aspect kinda turned me off too. Maybe I'm missing something, but beats of rage never seemed that good to me.

Anywho, if you really wanted 2d platforming you should have gotten a saturn instead, I could Imagine sega wanting to stay as far away as possible from 2d after the saturn bombed, so it makes sense little shows up on the dreamcast...
Now what they should do is make a Mr. Bones 2 one of these days...
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

Yeah, the DC had a small handful of amazing platformers (Sonic Adventure, Rayman 2) and some great platform-esque action games (MDK2, Jet Grind Radio, Fur Fighters) but none of them were really 2D...at least not in America; I've never played Napple Tale, though. I guess the closest thing I can think of was Super Magnetic Neo. It was kind of 3D but its levels were set on a very linear track. Think Crash Bandicoot, only wackier. It's not a bad game and the magnetic thing is a nice touch but I remember getting very frustrated with it's one-hit kills.
