Gamecube Classic Controller?

Re: Gamecube Classic Controller?
Received the Thrustmaster Wireless NW today, just been playing a bit of Paper Mario with it.
It's good, but the button layout is AWFUL for traditional Gamecube games, anytime you need to press A and Y at the same time you have to break your own hand just to reach. That being said, it is very good for the Gameboy Player or any other game that uses digital controls, the buttons are laid out like a SNES pad so you get the same feeling.
Another little perk of the controller is that you can map ANY button to any other one. Want to press the Z button to go forwards? You can with this pad! Unfortunately, it has no means of saving your config, so if you have the pad set up totally different for any game you have to set it up each time, which could be a bit of a drag.
I'll do a proper review of both of them once I receive the Classic Controller, but to sum up the Thrustmaster, don't buy it for more traditional Gamecube games specifically set up for the GC controls (Metroid Prime, Zeldas etc.) but do buy it for games you can play with digital controls, or ones that you think can be used with this button layout (games that were released on multiple platforms are usually good for this, e.g. Metal Arms).
All I can say after a night using this controller is that I want a Wavebird so bad! Once you go wireless there is no going back! This and a Wavebird would have you set for all your wireless Gamecubing needs!

so anyone use this Classic Controller yet? I think it looks really promising, and much cheaper than the Hori alternative.

Re: Gamecube Classic Controller?
It arrived today, I'm afraid I only got about 10mins on it as I had to go out to work this evening but first impressions are so so, poor quality analogue sticks and a down button that needs a little too much force. On the other hand it seems to be overall made of good quality plastics, and works well with all Gamecube games I've thrown at it so it's not all bad.
I'll write up a proper review here for both the Thrustmaster Wireless and the Gamecube Classic Controller either later tonight or tomorrow.
