I'd have to see it for myself. It's 2007, and I've yet to be impressed by this HDTV wave, and I've been exposed to many sets.

Really... when it comes down to it. HDTV can't really be seen with out all the gadgets and gizmos to go with it.

DVI cables, high quality A/V receivers, a device that puts out good quality picture. Yes with say a high end receiver, a nice television and an XBOX360 you can REALLY tell the difference. But put that price together... is it really worth it?

No would say the normal consumer. It is not worth the 2500+ price tag. I for one spent a long time putting together my set up, and it is only 720p as I started with the television a couple years ago. But I'll tell you what, with all the pretty stuff i've collected... I get one HELL of an amazing picture that yes really does show off the HDTV for what it is. But worth the money?

no...

I'm afraid to say it, it really isn't worth all that much. Except in the big screen leagues. When you get up to your 50+ inches (I've got a 60 inch screen)... then it does make the money look worth it. But how many people have 50+ inch screens? Not many, I'll say that for a fact.

It's similar to those guys at the car shows with the uber sweet sound systems. Yeah you say... ok, with all the right wires and speakers and receivers this does sound amazing. But the 200 dollars I spent on my little 10 inch sub and mp3 player in MY car... I'm damn fuckin' happy.

Thank you.

My only real complaint with the standard NTSC sets is interlacing. I could do without it. Progressive just makes an epic difference to me. But resolution? It just doesn't matter in film and tv. Not to me. I've watched a lot of 1080 HDTV programming, especially PBS stuff, but it doesn't immerse me anymore than those same shows have on my NTSC set. You know what has the best resolution and graphics? The real world. Check it out sometime. Also hamsters. They have AWESOME graphics.

I'm looking forward to a projector

Apparently there are some decent quality projectors at competitive prices. Seems like the way to go for those without the space for a huge set up - and it's sort of portable as well.

tbh you guys, the equipment is definately getting cheaper and easier to manufacturer TVs like these (as there are less parts to put together and make). Also, I'm just happy with $600 720p LCD TV and I haven't even used anything HD with it yet! The video processor on it, even though it's an ATi, can sometimes really mess up a signal depending on source material, so I'm gunna get a good A/V Receiver with a nice HDMI upconversion to 720p sometime this year, and everything should look fantastic.

but even with the source, receiver, blah blah blah, still the contrast ratio on these suckers is amazing. Yes, maybe it won't look this good with our this or that, but it will still look great; better than what we have now that is. Less you have a CRT, then it may be slightly better (since it'll be 1080p and have better darks).

And as to NTSC mozgus, ATSC has you covered, as you may already know. It's able to do 480p, 720p, 1080i, and soon, 1080p.

When I say NTSC, I just mean 480i. I know it's not technically correct, but I don't care.

why not use the vga port? Most flat panel TVs have 'em nowadays. :)
