I picked up Gozilla Generations: Maximum Impact for the Dreamcast.

I always wanted the original Godzilla Generations, just because it was all over magazines back in the day when the Dreamcast was first revealed and was being promoted by Sega up until its launch. It was a launch game in Japan, but was never released in the West. Before its release, I remember a lot of the press saying how it was an impressive showcase of the console's power, because of the large Godzilla models and city environments. After its release though it got absolutely slaughtered in reviews and the graphics were also heavily criticised.

The sequel I picked up came out a year later and received better reviews. They completely changed the style of game and it now plays more like an on-rails arcade shooter.

I have Godzilla Generations and played through it a few years ago as 'Heisei' ('90s-ish) Godzilla. It was pretty rough. I enjoyed the stage where I got to stomp around Minato Mirai in Yokohama because I have some memories of visiting there when I lived in Tokyo. It's a really nice waterfront area. Other than that, pretty forgettable game. I didn't realize Maximum Impact was basically on rails. I don't actually have that one.

A few weeks late but wanted to share my pick-ups from May!

God of War (PS2) - I missed a lot of great games on the PS2, including the God of War titles. One of my roommates in college had the game and I saw him play a bit of it back then, but I never sat down with it myself. Will be fun to dive into this one.

Vagrant Story (PS1) - I beat Parasite Eve last year and it was a great experience all around. I especially enjoyed the battle system. I've read the battles in this game have a somewhat similar system, so I think I might enjoy this one too.

Aladdin (SNES) - After beating Aladdin on the Genesis a year or two ago, I figured I'd give the Capcom version of the game on the SNES a try. I really like the Genesis game so I doubt this will top it for me, but I still want to see what it has to offer. I've heard good things about this version as well.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. I still kind of want to get it at some point, just because it makes me nostalgic for that time when the console was first revealed and magazines were full of shots of and articles about Godzilla Generations, Virtua Fighter 3tb, Sonic Adventure and D2. I was so excited for the Dreamcast back then.

Not gaming-related, but Godzilla-related. Have you heard of Godzilla vs Biollante getting a Criterion release? Definitely gonna try to snag it next month.

Picked up some more Mega-CD games. Sonic CD was the main one I wanted and was off eBay. Silpheed and Rage in the Cage were from my local CeX.

I also got Grandslam for the Mega Drive. I only picked it up because it's the rare and expensive 'Classic' brown case variant and it was only £5.99! It's a shame it has no hang tab and the spine is badly faded.

Not yet, but I've ordered a couple of Switch 2 games. Cyberpunk 2077 and Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma will be here Tuesday, which is also when I'll be getting my screen protector for my Switch 2. Unfortunately, my third game, Mario Kart World, somehow got marked as a "store pickup" item. And to add insult to injury, the store in question is all the way in Dallas, TX... damn near a day's drive away! I opened a ticket to hopefully get it fixed and even messaged Gamestop Help on X.

I hear that. I was so geeked up for the Dreamcast I spent a lot of time in the months before release fighting with people at school about it vs the PS2.
