Raging Justice wrote: Tue May 28, 2024 11:24 am The Cody thing had a bunch of issues. One was that you could see all of this..."stuff" all over his body. I think it was some kind of flame retardant substance, but I remember when I watched the show you could see it EVERYWHERE on him. So it's like you already knew what he was planning. Also, it looked like he didn't even catch on fire at all when he did the spot. Also, he put Andrade through a flaming table, but it was mostly Cody who went through the table, not Andrade. The doofus basically put himself through a flaming table. Also, there was nothing in this match or feud to justify Cody trying something so extreme. It just came out of nowhere. It's like he was desperately just trying to do something that would make AEW fans think he was cool. Also, Brandi lit the table on fire and any time he involves Brandi in anything it just makes him look lame. I remember one of the problems with Cody in AEW was that she got involved WAY too many times in his matches, especially for a guy who wanted us to view him as a "face". There are a number of issues with this that I don't think I even need to bring up
Yeah, I looked it up not long after I posted and saw how bad it was

It somehow managed to be worst than I thought it would be. As you said:

- He was quite obviously covered in some fire retardant stuff
- He put himself through the table, not Andrade
- Brandi came out and put it on fire - why? Why is Brandi even here?
- The crowd reaction was even "wtf?"

Becky seems really hung up on women's pay lately, noting how much Mercedes is making in AEW. A lot of people see Becky as WWE for life, but I would still make an aggressive play for her if I was Tony. He's obviously going to have to dig deep into his father's pockets, but I think she's worth it. Having both her and Mercedes would be a legit game changer for the women's division

Wow. NXT was fascinating tonight. They literally said on commentary tonight, "That's Ethan Page! Wasn't he in AE..."

Wow, so Ethan Page debuted on NXT. It wasn't that long ago he departed AEW. Don't they have non-compete clauses anymore?

I wonder if WWE would ever put on a full cross-promotion PPV with TNA. I know Triple H doesn't like the term "forbidden door" but it would be amazing and something we would have never seen under Vince McMahon.

Edit: I just read that there will be NXT talent showing up in TNA shows over the coming weeks and other TNA talent showing up in NXT. Interesting.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around them nearly name dropping AEW on live TV when he debuted. That was not by accident.

Yeah, that has to be intentional. They know it will get a response and have people talking. I guess it's relevant as he only left AEW earlier this month. It makes things exciting, especially if they almost name drop the company.

Man, it would be wild if we ever got some real WWE TNA and AEW cross promotion shows. It'll probably happen in years and years once AEW has been "humbled" like TNA has been. I like TNA, but it's not like this is 2005-2012 TNA when they were actually big.

Edit: It'll be interesting if Nic Nemeth shows up in WWE

Actually this reminds me of when WWE worked with ECW when they were at war with WCW. "We'll get one up on our competition by working with the third biggest promotion".

I still think it's crazy how much WWE changed under Vince and how stubborn he became in the latter years.
