I've also been dipping my toes into Nanowar of Steel, a very interesting comedy band. My God, the amount of references, word puns, and nods to Italian culture that they put into their songs and music videos are incredible. Tons of nerdy stuff (like references to horror movies), as well as references to lots of things in heavy metal. I feel like I need a discussion group after watching one of their videos just to cover everything that I missed. It's a very nerdy/geeky band and a lot of their stuff can go over one's head. Here are a some of my favorite ones, which I also think are more accessible than some of their other works as you don't need to be able to pick up on all of the references and stuff to enjoy these:

I've been listening to some Sabaton and enjoying all of the military history I'm learning from them. On the negative side though, a lot of their songs seem to follow the same formula. Here's yet another Nanowar song parodying Sabaton as well as hilariously poking fun at the 1994 FIFA World Cup. I'm not a sport fan but I learned a lot about this game after watching the video:

Lastly, I'm checking out the most recent Nightwish album, there's a great music video for one of the songs pointing out how people today spend too much time on their phones and on social media. That's what I love about metal, a lot of bands have songs about meaningful stuff, unlike most of what's on mainstream music on the radio

Gods in Decay is such a great song. I love these lyrics about an Artificial Intelligence that has escaped the system and is coming to warn humanity of the machines that are coming to exterminate them Terminator style. Artificial Intelligence is all we hear about in the real world these days so of course we're going to start seeing a resurgence of songs and movies about them:

I actually picked up my vinyl copy at a video game store on a whim. Turns out this album makes for some pretty sweet background music while you're doing work or whatever.

Also- Avantdale Bowling Club's self titled album has been heavily in rotation for a while. Home is an amazing track.

I'm currently listening to the new Incubus album, Morning View XXIII.

The original Morning View album was released in 2001. Now it's 23 years later, and they decided to re-record the entire album. Hence "XXIII." Very weird, but not really a surprise because it's Incubus. The original Morning View album is definitely one of my more favorite Incubus albums, so I was a little worried (but at the same time excited) about them re-recording it. Perhaps it's their favorite album? Anyway, although they recorded it in the studio, it has a very live sound to it. So if you think of it as a live version of the Morning View album, then I don't think you could possibly be disappointed. It's very common for bands to switch things up in live versions, especially 23 years later. And I've heard that their set list right now is the entire Morning View album at length. So I think that's what they were intending, for this to be more of a live album.

Well, I'm about 3/4 the way through and I'm really digging it so far. It's not very often these days that a new album comes out that I care to get. Let alone one by one of my favorite bands. I bought it on vinyl because that's all that was available the other week, the CD seemed to be sold out everywhere (unless you wanted to pay too much for it). Listening to it now reminded me to check to see if the CD was in stock yet. Amazon has 1 copy left, so I ordered it. Not sure if this is a good sign for CDs... Either the CDs selling out for a new release is a good sign because many people want it. Or CDs are dying so they just didn't produce that many.
