Lmao now there are rumours that the Undertaker is going to appear. This is just getting silly.Reprise wrote:Dynamite and NXT are going head to head next Tuesday and WWE is throwing everything at it lol.
It's Adam Copeland's debut match for AEW against Paul Heyman appearing, John Cena appearing and Cody Rhodes appearing with a special announcement.
I swear WWE sometimes reeks of desperation. Which is weird for a company who is quite clearly number 1 and it's not even close.

Don't underestimate how petty HHH actually is.Raging Justice wrote:It's an ego thing. It seems juvenile, but it is what it is. AEW almost got him fired. Remember the Rainbow Brand of NXT 2.0? NXT was taken from him because he could not beat AEW. He will hold that grudge until AEW is over.
Also, HHH had an entire reign where he kept the people that he did not like underneath him, but he had elongated feuds and over indulgent matches with his best friends (HBK, Nash, Batista...). With him now running creative, he is going to put the people that he likes on top and anybody else is going to fall by the wayside...

Yeah, funny how the IWC just quietly forgave him for that after spending years complaining about it.Markies wrote: Also, HHH had an entire reign where he kept the people that he did not like underneath him, but he had elongated feuds and over indulgent matches with his best friends (HBK, Nash, Batista...). Like come on, WWE was pretty crummy during those years he was on top during the Ruthless Aggression era.

I think the Black and Gold era of NXT rehabilitated Triple H's reputation. That was when I noticed the online perception of Triple H changing. A lot of people loved that show and it always was associated with him. I missed a lot of that era of NXT because I was watching Lucha Underground, but I catch the occasional old episode or Takeover show from that era of NXT and it seems like it was really, really good. In fact, I think many people would like Raw and Smackdown to reach that level of quality.

Speaking of the AEW/WWE thing, I read that WWE is accurately aware of when a lot of AEW guys contracts are gonna be up and are gonna try and sign as many of their top stars as possible. Watch how they use Jade Cargill, that's gonna be a message to anyone in AEW who is thinking of jumping ship.
This really feels like a war. It does bring to mind the old Monday Night Wars. Makes me thing of the old Nintendo/Sega console wars too LOL

If Mark Calaway can show up on AEW it will bring in huge numbers albeit I am not sure what role he would be given. I dont see him as a manager and I do not see him doing any wrestling. AFAIK Mark did not show up in any wrestling organization other than the WWF since 1990 so thats big news.
I never liked Hunter Hearst Helmsley , I really believe he made his way through by backstage politics
thats one thing I love about Vince, friends&family don't mix with business. Every one is accountableMarkies wrote: Don't underestimate how petty HHH actually is.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Depriving AEW of star name wrestlers has not worked for WCW. They signed every big name in the business. A problem that occurred was that there was a huge payroll and they couldn't give enough fan attention to each star they had. Imagine a roster with: Flair, Sting, Hogan, Nash, DDP, Goldberg, Macho Man, Hall, Warrior, Benoit, Bret, The Giant, and many more...who will main event? Who is the face of WCW?Raging Justice wrote:Speaking of the AEW/WWE thing, I read that WWE is accurately aware of when a lot of AEW guys contracts are gonna be up and are gonna try and sign as many of their top stars as possible. That being said, AEW is the one who can deprive WWE of star names since Khan's pockets is deeper than Vince's
Re: The Wrestling Thread
Ricky Starks is rumoured to be next. I think his contract runs out soon. He is friends with Cody and Jade and was backstage at the Royal Rumble at the start of the year I think. He is also friends with CM Punk, so if there is any legitimacy to the rumours that WWE are in serious discussions with him (and I believe they will be, purely because of how petty they are, as we discussed and they would see if as a huge way to one up AEW), then I could definitely see Ricky jumping.Raging Justice wrote:Speaking of the AEW/WWE thing, I read that WWE is accurately aware of when a lot of AEW guys contracts are gonna be up and are gonna try and sign as many of their top stars as possible. Wardlow is another one they are rumoured to be interested in. Let's be honest, Tony dropped the ball with him and there were rumours earlier this year he was pretty depressed and fed up in AEW.
MJF is obviously the big one. He has been using this so called 2024 bidding war as part of his storyline, which has led people to think it is just storyline and he has already quietly resigned, but I saw some of the dirt sheet reporters saying he definitely hasn't resigned and his contract ends at the beginning of next year, so we will see.
No, you misunderstood me. I was saying the Undertaker is going to be on NXT next Tuesday. That's how petty and desperate WWE are to beat AEW in the ratingsRCBH928 wrote:If Mark Calaway can show up on AEW it will bring in huge numbers albeit I am not sure what role he would be given. It has led to some pretty funny memes though.
I am surprised AEW haven't thrown more at Dynamite to be honest. It's Edge's first match, but no one wants to see him wrestle Luchasaurus (yes, I know the story will involve Christian and they aren't going to waste a match with him or any other big match on his first appearance).

Oh... I think its stupid that WWE wants to beat AEW ratings with NXT. They already have Smackdown and RAW which are their main shows. AEW has only 1 show. One of the smartest moves I have seen by AEW is to not go head to head with RAW. Why fight on a piece of cake when you can share it?Reprise wrote:

I think this is one of the things that led to WCW demise . Sure it created a lot of competition and fun for the viewer but I think if RAW could go on Monday and Nitro could be on Tuesday they could all win since wrestling fans are willing to watch both but they can't watch both together . But I think Bischoff's plan was to destroy WWF completely so yeah...according to his plan he did the right thing except it failed...he was close though..
Can't believe TNA had the audactiy to air head-to-head with RAW
Re: The Wrestling Thread
AEW has three shows now. Collision on a Saturday (2 hours) and Rampage on a Friday (1 hour). Collision and Dynamite are supposed to be equals and two main shows, but Collision is struggling, mostly because of the timeslot, and partly because they're struggling to justify its existence and partly because of the drama that surrounded CM Punk who was exclusive to Collision (and now he's gone). It was really good for the first couple of months whilst they had a soft roster split and they were utilising stars who the company hadn't been doing much with. It had better production, better stage design, there was more of an emphasis on old school wrestling without a lot of the goofy shit you get on Dynamite and I prefer Nigel McGuiness on commentary (less so Kevin Kelly, but he's alright I guess).RCBH928 wrote: Oh... Rampage is... I don't get the point of it. That is a show that also started as supposedly "Dynamite's equal", but now feels like an afterthought and they just shove random people on it for random matches.
That said, criticisms aside, I am so glad they haven't made Dynamite 3 hours long. That's the single worst thing WWE ever did and it made Raw borderline unwatchable.
