I assume Stadium Stampede will be pre-taped. It's not the sort of thing you watch live. It's kind of like a pro wrestling short film. A lot of stuff was like that in the pandemic era, like the Boneyard match between AJ Styles and Undertaker. They'll shoot this thing when the building is empty and maybe put it on the big screen during the actual show. I don't like that they are doing Stadium Stampede again, as I'm a firm believer that they'll never be able to top the first one. I also can't fucking stand Eddie Kingston, so any time he's in a match it becomes harder for me to watch. I don't like his onscreen character, I don't think I'd like him as a person in real life either. Also, Eddie KIngston is ridiculously out of shape and can't wrestle.Reprise wrote:Haven't watched it yet, but another few matches announced. Basically everything that leaked in the dirt sheets a few weeks ago is coming to fruition.
Stadium Stampede 3 is happening, which is a bit weird. It made sense in the pandemic, but when you have 80,000 people going to Wembley Stadium... Erm what are you doing? It's Moxley's dumb group of screwdriver weilding morons against Orange Cassidy, Eddie Kingston, Lucha Bros and Best Friends. I remember when Moxley used to wrestle, I quite liked him then. Oh well, it might be fun, but as the BCC is involved it will probably be stupid, just like the Blood and Guts match and the parking lot match from Rampage a few weeks ago.
Omega and Hangman (?) announced the trios match against Bullet Club Gold and Takeshita, which is happening, for some reason... It will be a good match, but seems like a waste of the talent involved. An Omega vs Jay White match could have been incredible. I believe they have wrestled before in New Japan?
Ospreay vs Jericho is happening... Lol.
The Texas Chainsaw Deathmatch looked like something from late era TNA or WCW.
Speaking of TNA, apparently Joker Sting returned.
Oh well, might catch up later.
I like Jericho, but I know some people are getting tired of him getting so many big matches. He can't go in the ring like he used to, which is a shame, as he was one of the best wrestlers ever in his younger years. Some of his AEW story lines are also just getting kind of weird. It feels like they don't really know what to do with him. Osprey is really great in the ring, but I'm not super into him for some reason, so this match doesn't excite me much. I honestly wish they'd just bring back the original Inner Circle, make them all heels again, and just have Jericho be in like a manager type role for all of them, only stepping into the ring for special occasions...kind of like how they use Sting with Darby
The Texas Chainsaw Deathmatch was...awful, which I think is what everyone expected.
The trios match is somewhat interesting to me, because Omega was the leader of the Bullet Club before Jay White, so there's some interesting history there. Jay once claimed that if he hadn't taken control of the bullet club away from Omega, then AEW wouldn't even exist, implying that Omega ran away from NJPW after his encounter with Jay. Having Ibushi and Hangman in the match too is basically Omega being in a match with two of the best tag partners he's ever had. By the way, I love that Hangman was drinking last night. They need to bring that back. He did some of the funniest shit ever when he was the beer drinking guy. He's literally done the "Hold my beer" meme on AEW shows. I think one of the reasons he's not as mega over as he used to be is because he stopped drinking. You're a cowboy! Cowboys drink in saloons damnit!
I would love to get a big match some day in any company pitting all of the former Bullet Club leaders against each other. That'd be awesome. Finn Balor versus AJ Styles versus Kenny Omega versus Jay White. The BC is such a big part of their history. The Elite is basically a Bullet Club offshoot. Bullet Club Gold is basically AEW's version of Bullet Club. The OC in WWE is AJ Styles basically having his own Bullet Club in WWE but not being able to actually call it that. Finn Balor is leading the largest heel faction in WWE right now, which seems fitting for the guy who created the Bullet Club.
Is it weird that I don't care about Britt Baker anymore? Her character is doing nothing interesting yet she rarely puts anyone over in the ring. Plus, her wrestling just isn't all that impressive lately, but that's coming from a Stardom fan. I think my standards are getting too high because Stardom spoils us with amazing women's wrestling. It's not just AEW. I was watching Trish Stratus versus Becky Lynch on this week's Raw with someone else, and she said at one point, "God, this is boring. I'd rather be watching a Stardom match". I felt the same way watching Britt wrestle The Bunny last night. It was a snooze fest and we all knew who would win. I wish AEW would create a women's version of Cassidy's international title and start having the champ wrestle top ladies from around the world on AEW programming while also allowing the champ to appear on shows for other wrestling companies with her AEW title.
Both AEW and WWE were kind of lame this week. AEW in particular, that MJF/Cole video package this week was pretty lame, especially the part with Tony Kahn, as if anyone actually buys into Tony Kahn being a boss that people are afraid of
