Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
First 3 iterations of my script made no sense. I then went to my mother's after writing the 4th to film because the green screen is in my former bedroom. I forgot my sd card so I couldn't film. I then had to delay again because I had new lights coming in. I FINALLY tried filming today but I realized that once again the script made no sense, so I gotta delay it again and will watch a complete let's play of the game to jog my memory and do a 5th iteration. Oh and it looks like my tripod is almost broken.
Filming can be so frustrating sometimes.

How is it possible for you to film something without being in NYC?

You don't want to know. Here on Hatteras Island there's NO place to rent equipment, NO nearly bottomless supply of struggling actors and possibly NO halfway decent musicians to do the score.

Look up Joel Haver. You can do stuff on your home and by yourself, at least in the beginning, and he's managed to make a career out of it.REPO Man wrote:You don't want to know. With what? A low-end PC, an off-brand phone, a Walmart brand tablet and a blue screen I have no room for? Cuz that's literally my options.

A lot of youtubers use their phone or a go-pro camera that costs like $2-300. A low end PC might have a bit of trouble editing, but it'll just come down to long rendering times. Just don't use after effects, and stick with a free program like Da Vinci resolve. Do you really need a blue screen? I use my living room most of the time. The green screen is just for the effect-heavy stuff, like putting myself in the Myst games for my series. Use fiverrr for people to make a score, or just become a member of epidemic sound.
My point is, you gotta have some semblance of experience to have even just a shot of getting people to film your stuff in NYC. Even if your work sucks on a technical level, if it's sincere and fun then it will improve your chances. Doing this is a lot more feasible than traveling to NYC. I mean hell, look at Tik Tok, most of it are teens doing skits.

And making a shit ton of money on said platform.
PH: I want to start doing some YouTube videos in the fall. Looking to focus on clothing and shoe reviews and such. Would an iPhones on a tripod be enough for something like that? I’m not looking for high production values here. Just something that people can watch about some of the more uncommon pieces.
I see mirrorless DSLRs are used too. Sub-$300 even. Would that be a better option?

You coulda used that Switch money for a knock-of GoPro with image stabilization and a selfie stick to hold it with to get interesting angles. If your only vision of film-making disregards backyard and garage film-making then you're not anywhere close to ready to even consider the field. Most people get their start doing shit stuff for practice. If you think you're going to just bypass all that you're got a rude awakening coming.
