So I picked up the Show....
Let me tell you how difficult it is to play this game. I played for about 6 hours, and I have only hit two home runs and routinely get get singles.... I played the road to the show feature which got me through spring training and I did so wonderful I am now playing double A ball. The pitching is fantastic and takes a while to get used to. The hitting aspect of it is very hard. I constantly think I am getting good wood on the ball and I just fly out to the outfield. I do like the aspect in road to the show that it only makes you play the parts of the game where you are the focus... I only go to the scenes where I have to make a play whether it's a home run hit over my part of the outfield or I get pop ups..... it definitely helps me speed along through the game.

MLB (for those who don't know, it's baseball) the Show is probably my favorite sports game ever. I've had it almost since its launch date and it definitely gets the most play time out of all my games. This coming from a guy who enjoys all genres of games--though sports games were my first love. On a side note, there's a patch coming out for the show on Monday.
Honestly man, you might be better off at operationsports.com if you wanna find people to discuss this game with. I'd imagine 90% of the posters on Racketboy probably don't play sports games at all--not that there's anything wrong with that.

i have 08 for PSP and have played the Demo for the PS3 version of 08 and 09. The hitting is something you have to get used to. Make sure you guess the pitch and location. Once you get used to it you'll be ok. It pretty realistic though so dont expect to pop a HR every AB. Oh and if you are playing Road to the Show expect your guy to suck until you get his stats up, and you get used to the league he is in. There is a bit of a jump from AA to AAA and a huge leap from AAA to the Majors.

I have the setting for rookie and it's still damn hard... I definitely like the challenge... i feel I get better with every hour of the game that gets played. I routinely get more comfortable with the controls... still haven't gotten a good knack for guessing pitches.

JDM,
Just my two cents--don't try to guess pitches. The thing that really helped me was to stay back on the ball--you really have more time than you think to hit the ball in this game, even on those 99 + fastballs.
My unsolicited advice would be to force yourself to take pitches (that's what I did.) Infact, some games I would just takes 8-10 pitches in a row to get a read on the movement and speed of the pitches--this is when I figured out that the game does give me enough time to stay back on the ball. The result of all this has been that I can now work the count for walks as well as just being a better hitter.
Pitching is where I struggle.
One last note, I found that playing without the hot/cold zones and strikezone visuals helped me to see the ball better. Again, just my .02. Good luck.

Re: So I picked up the Show....
I will have to try that, I usually don't take a lot of pitches, I almost always take the first pitch especially if I guess it correctly I swing on it. I have been trying to exercise some more patience at the plate and work the count more.

I dont take pitches, esp if I guess them right.. Unless its something that I know I have trouble hitting (some of the offspeed stuff.) I usually guess fastball, if im wrong I know I can wait on it (unless he has more than one fastball.) You just have to get used to the flow and get the timing down. As that happens you will increase your players abilities and soon you will be batting .350

Re: So I picked up the Show....
Yea I got my buddy hooked on it today. He is still over there at his house playing it. I left it for him.... his guy is doing way better than my guy, which is probably in part of me being a better player this time around so I am more aware of what I should be hitting and what I need to lay off. We did manage to get a few homers for his created character. We aer definitely RBI machines.

Re: So I picked up the Show....
Love this game to pieces.
Anyone else have issue with the in-game chat online?
I was playing with my friend the other night and our headsets (both official Sony) were crackling and cutting out.
We moved on to RE5 and they worked perfectly.
Is there an issue with this?
