Double A batteries seem to be on their way out. Everything seems to run on Triple A now or rechargeable.

Is baseball still the popular game in the USA? This notion is engraved in my head by the movie The Sandlot. Haven't been hearing much of it lately and last I heard seats are empty(pre-COVID). Basketball seems to hold its position though I don't think its as popular as it was during mid-90s, I remember the Chicago Bulls. I don't know about NFL but sounds its like on the rise. Most countries have 1 national sport meanwhile USA seem to have 3-4. The ironic part is all 3-4 sports are USA specific, no other country has them as their national sport. Not that I know of.

Sometimes I think sport movies/shows are financed by their leagues to create hype and increase popularity.

Baseball is just as popular in Japan as the US. And I'd say there are five popular sports in the US. Baseball/Basketball/Football are the big three whose fortunes wax and wane over time based on the performances of the teams in each league; basketball was biggest during the Jordan era, football is currently the top, but we could see baseball become the most popular if a team or two get particularly exciting. Hockey is the next one down (and is shared with Canada in terms of both countries enjoying it), and then soccer has finally gotten enough of a foothold that it can regularly fill stadiums.

You forgot golf. I suspect it’s more popular than hockey or soccer, and, maybe, baseball.

EDIT: I’m wrong. Baseball is the second most popular sport in the U.S. Golf is seventh, behind everything popo listed and tennis!

Baseball is also popular in South Korea as well as some Caribbean nations and Canada.

Football is benefitting from interesting changes in quarterbacks, with a contrast between an older generation still going that features the greatest NFL player of all time and a younger generation with someone possibly skillful enough to pursue the GOAT title.

Basketball is actually popular in Europe, and recently teams have been looking to that area for potential NBA players. It's also incredibly popular in China, despite recent tensions due to statements over Hong Kong from team managers.

Hockey is also popular in Scandinavian countries and Russia, and just about every team has at least a handful of players from these countries.

Golf also isn't a sport, it's an activity, like bowling.

Speaking as a construction worker in western Canada, I can say that Hockey is the most popular, followed by UFC and Golf or Football (with the oblong pig-skin type). My friend just chimed in and said baseball is popular, but I still hear enough that I regularly donate to all 50/50 draws and almost-win sometimes. Other sports are only mentioned by foreign workers or people who lived in Europe for a long time. Marksmanship is always a sport, so any projectile counts.

I'm surprised ufc is 2nd in canada. I guess GSP was big up there for awhile but I expected baseball, basketball, or maybe even Canadian football.

Speaking of the devil, I coincidentally found myself watching the movie "Rookie of The Year" . I didn't think baseball shares popularity with soccer in Japan, but its just what I think not what I know. I am surprised to learn soccer is picking up in USA. I never understood why it was not any more popular in US&Canada. Its the #1 national sport near world wide. You would think it should be since USA&Canada is an immigrants country so they should bring that thing over with them. Maybe they finally did.

I think I heard basketball is promoted by the NBA in China as investment to make money off those 1 billion people in the growing economy. Surely stadiums will be sold out. I think they are trying to make a local franchise of their teams. I wonder if that works, like Beijing Lakers and LA Lakers.

No power for a 13 he streak last night, and I got about two thirty minute blips of having power today. Been out for at least two hours now. I’m pissed we couldn’t find a chimney sweep when we were looking months ago, I’m freezing my ass off.
