I'd say you paid about $6 too much for Marz, but the rest is nice.

I've never played a Virtual On game, so I jumped on it as soon as I saw it. Is Marz really that bad? Should I return it and get another Virtual On game instead?

EDIT: If I get a different Virtual On game I'm gonna want a pair of twin sticks too; what's the average price range on these things?

I asked a local shop for a PS2 game case but since they didn't have any they gave me the following for free:

Half-Lfe
House of the Dead
House of the Dead II

Crappy editions given away with newspapers but they are good games and it was free.

If you've never played a VO game then you might enjoy Marz. It's just that the other two are much faster and the combat is smoother.

A pair of twinsticks will probably run around $80-90 plus shipping. They're pretty much a requirement for the Dreamcast, but you don't need them for the Saturn. The Saturn has enough buttons that you can do everything with the Saturn pad.

What do you mean given away with newspapers? Do you have pics or can you find anything similar on the internet - like the same as what you got?

I bought a working Xbox 360 wireless adapter from the local Pawnshop for $20. Pretty good find IMO.

You know when newspapers or magazines offer you to buy a film for a bit more money than the newspaper alone? It was the same thing but with videogames. It was a long promotion of a newspaper called "El Mundo" (The World). They sold games published by FX Interactive a company that releases old games in "gold" editions (Gold as in bargain price not as "Deluxe") among other games. They had a number of good albeit old games like The Loungest Journey, Starcraft, Dragon's Lair and Space Ace (Which they dubbed to Spanish) and some minor games like a RTS game called Tzar which was popular around here even though the game was just a Age of Empires clone. They also were the ones that distributed the ports of SEGA's arcade games like Crazy Taxi and TotD.

You can see the packaging here, in their website:

http://www.fxinteractive.com/p059/p059.htm

They don't include papel manual, just a PDF one with a walkthrough in some cases. The back usually consist of 6 screenshots under a clichéd phrase like "The best action 3D game of all time" with a brief description of the game under it and three big simbols, two of them tell you something about the game like "The best SEGA game" or "More than 2.5M copies sold" or "12 different kinds of enemies!". The other shows Sherlock Holmes' hat with a caption similar to "Walkthrough included so you never get stuck".

The "El Mundo" edition is a normal FX Interactive edition with three big icons on the cover. One reads "El Mundo", the middle one reads "MVM" (As in Mejores Videojuegos del Mundo, Best Videogames of the World) and the other is for the original publisher (Ej. Sierra). There's also another icon on top for the studio.

Since "El Mundo" is the second most read non-sports newspaper there are loooots of those games around.
