The best PS2 wireless controller. (in my opinion)
Re: The best PS2 wireless controller. (in my opinion)
I can confirm the katana wireless controllers work on the psx. you just have to make sure it's in digital mode by pressing the mode button.

I personally just go the cord extension route. In general I've never liked 3rd party controllers, since I always start out on a first party and get used to it. There's only been a couple exceptions. The ASCII Pad for the SNES has the same dimensions and D pad as the regular SNES controller (just a bit of a raised portion at the top) so it feels nearly the same as a regular one (all the buttons are convex, though). And I found some 3rd party Gamecube controllers that look and feel like a regular Gamecube controller with the Nintendo logo filed off.

Are you guys seriously asking if a PS2 comtroller works on PS1?
ANY PS controller will work on any PS system 1 or 2. All you have to do is plug it into the controller port and turn it on.
All functions should operate as if it were a Dual Shock 1 or 2.
The fact that this is stated on the back of every box, and on the page that was linked to from GS has me terribly confused as to why people are asking,

Were you in an analog compatible game, or on the main system menu? Analog functions are not supported for any controller (Sony or otherwise) on the system menu. Also if the game is not analog compatible then you wouldn't be able to use the analog sticks anyway.dmhs wrote:I can confirm the katana wireless controllers work on the psx. you just have to make sure it's in digital mode by pressing the mode button.

I agree. Wonderful controller.
Re: The best PS2 wireless controller. (in my opinion)
Normally new console accessories are not backwards compatible with old hardware. I tired some PS2 wireless controllers on my PSone in the past (that said they worked) and they didnt, screwed me out of $50 aswell. I have not tried this Katana controller or the Logitech ones, that is why I asked. I would rather have someone who owns both pieces of hardware confirm this for me instead of going on a wild goose chase that ultimately ends with me owning another ps2 controller that I will only rarely use.
The link to Gamestop was only to show what the Logitech PS2 controller looked like.
Usually I always go with controller extensions as well Popo. But I am about to go on an adventure through PSX rpgs (while traveling) and the wireless controller will just be a nice way to handle it - just so I dont have to worry about children or pets pulling the cables out.

Don't worry though I've used both on my PS1 for quite some time befoe going back to the Dual Shocks. That cell phone style vibration that both use just irks me after a while.

Nothing beats the N64 rumble pack.
and to add to that...Saturn D-pad is THE best.

Well I have the Katana, and the Logitech.
But the one I like best is by far the MadCatz Microcon for PS2.
Its so damn small and everything feels real tight on it, and I really like the action on the jsticks.
On the back it even says "FOR HOME OR OFFICE USE".
