I know right? probably the same "financial" strategy with the NES games (3+ a month) for Nintendo Online :?

The financial strategy is this: long-time users will always have something new or something to look forward to. New users will have a lot of back content, but not be completely overwhelmed, and will still see new things coming on the horizon. It encourages people to keep spending a little here and there because they can be excited about new things a bit at a time instead of getting super excited for one big drop and then just "meh" after.

The same sort of strategy applies to the Nintendo On-Line package. They don't want to release a ton of games and then nothing, people people will sign up, and when they get tired of what's there they'll just let the subscription lapse. By keeping releases stretched out it encourages people to keep up their subscription.

This isn't a strategy that works to hook every consumer, but it does account for human psychology pretty well and should work for more potential customers than it won't work for.

yep. Maru's right. If Arcade Archives just dumped hundreds of games on one day, and that's it... then they wouldn't be news worthy on the various Nintendo blogs/sites every week. This way, their products get mentioned every week. And this way, you might say "oh, hey I used to like that game, maybe I'll buy it!" instead of 'oh shit, there's literally hundreds of new arcade games coming out this week... I'm overwhelmed." I think it's as simple as that.

That said, I really wish the ACA games would get physical bundles. That would be cool.

One thing I've noticed too is that the Arcade Archives and ACA releases are never listed as "coming soon." They just drop as surprises.

Hmmm...really? I seem to remember them on the coming soon menu (including Johnny's turbo arcade releases). That's how my wish-list gets built.

If there is a coming soon window it's extremely small, like 24 hours maybe. Johnny Turbo does have their stuff listed like 2 weeks before release date.

Case in point, Hamster has nothing listed in the coming soon category, but I can guarantee they will release something within a week.

I hope they get my order, I'm clicking as hard as I can.

Thanks for the heads up on this Bogus, it's a screaming deal that I couldn't ignore.

I just got my CE version I had ordered way back when as part of the Kickstarter backer preorder. I can't decide on whether or not I want to crack it open.
