It'll be hacked i just hope it isn't the same situation as the S/NES. You can use Nintys's laggy sound emulation or retroarch with more input lag than the official emulator. I have one Classic NES and two SNES' and have never bothered to even open them :/ Bought for the cool factor alone hehe
Child owned from a INTERNET GAS filled home.

Like I said when this was announced, this is rather pointless with how widely available PS2/PS3's are that can all play PSX games already, plus the hundreds of titles on the PSN for the PS3 along with its convenience hooking up correctly to HDTV's, and ability to create and manage nearly infinite memory cards. I'm not sure why anyone needs this.
I wouldn't go quite that far. I'd go so far as to say that regardless of what you want it to be, there's something present. As a collector, Intelligent Qube and Revelations: Persona disc-only would probably cost as much or more than the system, and they aren't on PSN (technically, the PSP remake of Persona is).

Stuff like Battle Arena Toshinden and Jumping Flash covers the launch-era type stuff. Other entries are maybe the most popular or most evolved ones on the system, like Tekken 3 and Ridge Racer 4. Then there's the first(ish) entries of iconic franchises in FFVII, Resident Evil, GTA, and MGS. A fair amount of multiplayer mixed in with some of those, and the puzzle games, etc.

They could definitely have swapped a few titles out for stronger ones, or pushed to do 25 or 30 games...but no single list was likely to satisfy everyone.

Of all the great games from Psygnosis, however, I think we can all agree that Destruction Derby is a pretty weak choice... :?

Should have replaced that one with Warhawk in my opinion if they wanted an early title.

Yeah, that one strikes me as an odd choice, except that it apparently has compatibility problems on PS2 and PS3 (I assume via disc not the PSN version).

Additionally, and, rampant speculation time, I think the Playstation version only does multiplayer over a Link Cable. Coolboarders 2 looks like the only series entry that supports that... and Ridge Racer 4 also does, I think to a better degree than others in the series. Maybe the hardware will actually be able to emulate two systems at a time to make use of that (but probably not).

I'd also wonder if there are plans to do additional versions of this, with some of the other titles being reserved for later.

Not Psygnosis actually! It would have been a great choice, though.

For Psygnosis, they could have easily gone with Colony Wars. Destruction Derby 2, G-Police, Rollcage, Team Buddies, or WipeOut. All of these games are better than Destruction Derby, which is a pretty rubbish game.

Also...it’s 2018. No one has wanted to play Cool Boarders 2 since March 31, 1998 (i.e., the date Nintendo released 1080). Frankly, not that many people wanted to play it before then. Weak, weak choice.

I didn't mean to imply that it was Psygnosis. Just saying that they were both early titles. Also we are seriously lacking in shmups or aerial games of any kind.

Wipeout would have been great too.

As soon as I saw this list minutes after the stories broke this morning my mind was 100% made up for me to not have an interest in buying it anymore as a stock system. Then moments after the Japanese list hit and then I felt just a bit slighted by them. The list is not fair to call garbage as it's not, but it's like they decided to pick the worst of the best and just went with it.

Now I totally understand parts of this entirely. Crash and Spyro are out as Activision had no part of this. MOH is out because EA wanted no stake either. But I'm wondering what the deal is with the more friendly entities here that already were well on board due to Nintendo/Super Nintendo CE before hand. I'm takling Namco, Capcom, and Konami. Konami at least supplied MGS, but why not more like something Castlevania? Suikoden, Silent Hill, Contra? And what's up with Capcom, just RE1 and just Puzzle Fighter? Usually most feel RE2 was the big one of that time, and if you're going to use the SF franchise how about a damned fighter (EX, SFA2 Gold, SF Collection, etc?!) And if not that why not oh I don't know Mega Man Legends? And then you have Square-Enix, they don't just control their stuff individually from that time but about a decade ago they ate up Eidos and Tomb Raider was huge for PS1. How come none of that or Dragon Quest? What about cheaper to expensive fun strange stuff people loved like Klonoa, Tomba, Omega Boost and others??

It just seems like those 3 companies were far more friendly, rational, and intelligent in their allowances if you look at what the NES and SNES CE got in the last couple of years as this is drivel. The other stuff is a mix of mediocrity, better ports on PC, and a sprinkling of good stuff. Is this supposed to be the stand out MGS, FF7, Wild Arms, R4 Ridge Racer box with A- and B tier filler? Totally wasted opportunity at $100.

I'm already seeing people angry online all over many speculating and hoping it easily busted open HAKCHI style so people can make it have a proper list of games if the storage or a bypass allows for it. I have to admit, if someone did cut that thing wide open I'd be willing to pay for it then, and I'd load the limited library of discs I have, then add to it some.
