Don't sleep on Blade Strangers pretty good 2d Fighter with A bunch of characters from Nicalis published games.

Sadly Solange from Code of Princess lost her Bounce like Mai in post 99 KOF on a US MVS.

Gameplay wise, which game would you compare it to? I did plan on picking it up but have SNK Heroines on pre-order and that drops so soon I didn't think I'd want to focus on two fighters so close together.

I think I said it before somewhere, maybe here, but it's like how rogue hit space sim with Everspace. Same exact mechanic, just this time in an action-rpg metroid/castlevania style of play instead of flight combat. Story moves along slowly, death is intended and well earned/deserved being used to slowly grow the character out and only keeping key upgrade components and not the other pickups off death. It's a rewarding system that's why I'm fairly interested in it too.

I watched the Nindies thing yesterday. Nothing really grabbed me. I feel like almost every game looked like a variation on Celeste, which I was really not into.

That said, it's insane how much good stuff is coming out for the Switch before the year is over. I'm having to make decisions on what to skip for now even. I pre-ordered SNK Heroines, so holding out on Blade Strangers for now. I played quite a bit of Monster Hunter World earlier this year, so I'm thinking I'll wait on Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (though they seem like pretty different games). And I'll probably hold out on some of the retro re-releases until the itch to play a particular game arises. But I mean Mega Man X Collection, SNK 40th, Namco Arcade Pac, Psykio Collection... There's also a handful of shmups coming out soon... RXN Raijin, Psyvariar Delta, Shikhondo Soul Eater... again, I'll have to kind of wait and see.

The big ones for me (that I know of right now!) are SNK Heroines (9/7), Valkyria Chronicles 4 (9/25), Mega Man 11 (10/2), Starlink (10/16), Monster Boy (10/30) and Pokemon Let's Go (11/16). But I mean... that's a lot of games.

I was in the same spot. I actually decided to not buy either SNK release. The fighter wasn't hard to rationalize as I know I wouldn't put the hours into it to get me value out of it at all, and the other a compilation isn't necessary and can easily wait. I've cut off a few other titles before going as far as killing a pre-order too. It's actually nice being in this spot because I don't remember having that problem since the Gamecube was alive on the market.

You're listing stuff a bit I wasn't aware of, unless they're not physical then I would have ignored it so that may explain it. Starlink I probably should grab but never set that up and same with that Pokemon pikachu edition game too. I'll have MM1, Dead Souls Remastered, Monsterboy, and Tales of Vesperia Def Ed. coming my way.

Dead Cells looks interesting, but that will have to wait. I'm still very slowly chipping away at Ys8, and now I've got Code of Princess and Octopath coming within a week. I needed some new variety.

@Tanooki: all those games I listed are physical.

Actually the only games I own digitally on Switch are F2P games. So far it's turned out that the vast majority of digital titles I'm interested in soon get a physical release of some kind. Which is good!

Speaking of - the word on the street is that Nicalis will be publishing a physical version of Ikaruga.

And speaking of F2P, there's probably something wrong with me. I've put in 30 hrs of Paladins since it came out last month. This is on top of the ~180 hrs I played on PC and Xbox One in the past. :|

You got me there. I didn't know that list from that block on RXN Raijin were physical, the rest yes.

If you're right, I'd buy Ikaruga again even if I have it on the Cube just to support Nicalis, and with the type of screen it is, I think they'd easily in handheld mode make it line up like the arcade cabinet did which is cool.

I have 4 digital games on Switch 3 of them I bought and they're stuck that way (Blaster Master, Kamino, and ACA Mario Bros) and the other I got a free product code for a retail game from my brother as his company was responsible for it (Portal Knights.)

Everything else, physical: Cave Story, Doom, Elder Scrolls, I Am Setsuna, Legend of Zelda, Lego City, Lost Sphear, Retro City Rampage, Super Mario, Ultra SF2, Wonder Boy, and Ys 8 (with Code of Princess and Octopath in the mail.)

I've had other games, but they didn't do it for me like Nicalis' Isaac and Tiny Barbarian, Axiom Verge was short/easy so I dumped it(probably shouldn't have), but I think that's it.

Those F2P games I haven't tried, kind of forget they're there unless brought up. I was playing Star Trek Online, but erased it yesterday because it hit a basic grinding halt paywall after the Bajoran campaign. Anything else other than basic ships, the mid-upper tier stuff from the breen and borg were damn near instant death if you got within a few km of the target. All I could read up was, grind a hell of a lot, redo missions and hope for better drops, or pay up. I erased it. I don't think so. If I won't tolerate that from a phone app with a meter/gems, sure as hell won't take it from a PC game either. :)

I'm 99% sure that Ikaruga does have TATE mode. I Kickstarted one of those thingies so you can play the handheld portable, so I'll be investigating a lot more arcade ports later this year. :D

Man, Axiom Verge is pretty high on my want-to-play list. I've been holding out for a cheap copy of the Multiverse Edition, though.

RXN is part of Play Asia's limited edition releases, btw. Along with Dimension Dive and um.. .that other recent shmup.

Unless you're super sold on Axiom Verge being a direct spiritual successor to Metroid and you really want the theming and sci-fi trappings therein, I'd steer you toward Hollow Knight, it's a much better game.

The Metroid/sci-fi/aliens vibe is a big part of it yeah.

Honestly the art style of Hollow Knight really turns me off.
